Can anyone post pics of your Taurus fan install? Also, what size of relay are you using?

Looked up the application on Rockauto. They show a Bosche type 30 amp relay. Other posts I read said that fan pulls 40+ on startup. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a higher amp relay just to be safe.

I run the contour twin fan setup and I have to use 2 70a relays, one for each speed (it has high and low like a taurus fan), and a 60a maxi fuse. This is what the Contour used. I use a dakota digital fan controller with it as well. Works extremely well.

The contour fan will only work on a 26" radiator though.

You can look for an older Bosch 50a glow plug relay. I think they were used on GM 6.2's.

Thanks for the replies. A local wrecking yard shows they have a few of the fan assemblies. I'll see if I can get the relays too.

I'm ignorant on this (and many other things, too). Is this saying "A digital fan controller from a Dodge Dakota" or a Dakota-brand digital fan control?

If from the Dodge, what year/application?

Thanks

Its a "Dakota Digital" Brand controller. The only one they sell. You get that and the RLY-3 (one comes with, so you buy 2), then set it for dual speed fans and use a proper sending unit (I used the autometer one that was already in for my gauges). This thing couldn't work nicer.

If you PM me your e-mail, I can email you a multi-page presentation that shows how I wired mine. Yours will be similar.

Just an update, 94-95 is the year Taurus that uses a single offset fan/shroud. The one for the 3.8 motor looks like it will fit my Summit aluminum rad. Still looking for any pics of anyone's install.

Look for an 80amp relay....found mine at a local electronic parts surplus place. ebay also has them for about $10. I melted 40 and 50amp relays running the fan too long.

They look almost look the same a a regular relay but 2 of the paddles are much larger than the regular ones.

Was just researching this. Great thread. Anybody have any luck shoehorning the Taurus or Mark VIII fan/shroud into an Early A with a SB and 22" radiator?
