Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

That's where I was going-he said he degreed it using the ICL method, and that perhaps it was off; but I offered that retarding the cam timing might help with the lowering the increased cylinder pressure and could help his detonation issues.

no i understand where you were going, we just dont know where we are which can help!

Zombie Ray Charles?
I did see that the 2 center exhaust ports looked a little out of square. Other than that, why the insults? No need to be a dick about it.
A guy asks for help, gets some good advice and some BAD advice....
The guy takes what seemed like good advice that turned out to be a big step backward, yet never blames the guy that gave him the advice.
Sound familiar?

Has nothing to do about it... its the fact you paid your hard earned money and got a (from the couple of pics) a marginal port job. From you pics the ports were opened up at the mouth but pinch not far into the port, from the same pics it looks like you can see the cut line from the seat cutter. it takes a couple of minutes per port to just blend the bowl and they didn't do it (at least from your pics it dosn't look like it.

Then you said they didn't do much on the intake side which is pretty obvious. the guides and humps are pretty much untouched, hard to tell without before/after pics and a gasket whether he port matched the intakes or did and bowl work.

Rusty, Tx, and myself mean nothing personal, but i would break the heads down and start running you finger thru the ports. If its not all nice and smooth, ( no burr marks from the cutters, but only fine scratch from the sanding roll), then i would pack them up and say do a good job or by be another st of heads because you fucked these up... IMO (not saying they cant be fixed, just need CORRECT porting)

We really want this fixed for you!
