Does anyone have an information on the restoration or ownership of this 340 Duster. Vin # VS29HOE149493 (all numbers matching car front to back).

The car was consigned to "Gateway Classic Cars" in St. Louis MO about 2 years ago and then ended up at "Vanguard Auto Sales" in the Detroit area where I purchased it. It is now in Utah and I need to talk to the previous owner. HELP ME SOMEONE !!!

Any information on this car would be appreciated.

Dave

She's a beauty Dave. My favorite "A"body. Not to be a poopoo head, but the grill should be dark for a correct 340 resto. I hope someone here can help you out on your quest :thumleft:. Good Luck!

I thought 70 340 grills were light colored and non 340's were dark? I could be wrong.

Thanks for the info on the grill. I'm a E and B body guy, never have owned an "A" Body car. Love this one. I need to find out who restored this car as it is a concourse quality restoration. Even though I would like to congratulate the guy on the job I do have some critical questions about the engine build and a few others.

Who Restored This Car ??

Right. The car is VERY nice and I paid a fraction of what the guy must have had into the restoration but I need to find this guy. I contacted Gateway Classic Cars and they told me that their "privacy policy" required them to NOT give any information about individuals who sell cars on consignment. Bummer….. would like to know who did this car. Thanks guys….

I understand privacy policy, but why not give Gateway your info and have the consignee just contact you. I'm sure they would do that especially if your persistent. Good Luck.

Hey Mitts, I had a thought. Do you think the car was owned or ever titled in Missouri, or maybe Illinois? I'm not sure what their privacy laws are in those states now days, but years back, a few would give you a Vin search for a few bucks. In the 90's I traced one thru Maryland and they were very cooperative. Then I got to Virginia and they wouldn't get off any info. Maybe do some online state site searches to see if they allow or sell that info?

I actually still "Google" some old Vins of mine just to see if anything pop's up. So far, no luck...:D.

I wish I could help, and I wish you luck. I too bought my car through Gateway, but was lucky enough to come across an ad the seller had also posted on Racingjunk.com. Had his name and phone number on it. Talked to him tonight, seems like a nice guy, and it's always better hearing details from the person who did the work.
