I agree with you on Chip Foose being talented and his car designs and builds are outstanding. But I hate to say sometime the wheels he desighns don't fit the look if the car.
And nothing makes me lose interest at a car show or cruise night than another car with 14" rims, unless it's an original Mini.
For me, restorations got old about 10 years ago. I don't know how guys look at the same old cars, the same way they came from the factory, over and over, year after year. I'm 46, and I've seen enough stock/restored Chevies, Fords, Mopars, and so on to last a few lifetimes. I've seen just about everything the factories have ever offered, and I don't need to see it again and again. There's nothing interesting to me about one more set of 14" Rallyes. Nothing wrong with Rallyes, but they aren't worth admiring, either.
Show me something new, creative, or interesting, regardless of the make and model. Otherwise, I'll find better things to look at.

All depends on the car. Former neighbor had a mid 60's GTO with 16"'s on it and it looked great. There is an older lifted Chevy 4x4 truck in Spokane somewhere with 20"s or so on it, shod with car tires....now :wack: Your car, do as you chose....don't like it don't look....

15 inch an all my classic cars. I'm not a fan of anything bigger, on a classic car. Of course I really don't like 14 inch wheels on an A body either. IMO 15's just look right on our classic mopars. I think you will always be able to get 13 14 15 inch size tires, but probably from speciality companys like coker tire.

One of the big disadvantages of 13, 14 and 15" wheels is they limit your brake size. My 62 is getting 330mm rotors (13") so 17" wheels are the minimum I can fit! They also fit in with the modernised styling I'm looking for while retaining a good side wall hight and not looking over sized.

I have seen some other threads get bumped but not sure why.
My 2 cents - The size of the wheel/tires doesn't matter to me, as long as the proportions are in balance with the car. I like some cars with 14, some wih 15, some with 20's.
Some people do not like the 18/20 wheels I put on my 61 fins. To me it makes the car look great, way better than the stockers.

It finally dawned on my dumb *** why this kept getting bumped. Folks were voting without replying.
As to the big wheel debate, it comes down to personal preference. Your car, build it your way. You're the only one you have to satisfy.
That being said, it's also a matter of practicality sometimes and the long term savings.
Take for instance, my '78 F250. Finding 16.5" tires is a pain in the ***. Step up to 18" wheels and I have a broad range of tire selection, manufactures, and prices to take into account to get good E-rated tires.
I sat down and did the math once upon a time for my Ramcharger. Factory shod with 31X10.5's. I could buy a set of 16" wheels for it with appropriately sized 16" tires for about the same amount (give or take) as it would take to shod the truck with a set of good factory size 15's. The next set of tires would actually turn out to be cheaper.
And that's just the two trucks.
That's not taking into account the project cars, all of which will be seeing suspension upgrades and a lot more horsepower.

I'm at the point of needing new wheels on my Caddy, because nobody makes a speed-rated 235/70R15 anymore. Once I wear out my current tires (the old V-rated CHP Eagle GT's), I'm pretty much stuck.

Most common transit tire IS actually a low profile: a 305/70R22.5! (Older buses ran 12.5R22.5 or B305/85R22.5.) In fact, for commercial tires, a 295/75 or 275/80R22.5 is called (right on the tire!) a low profile. I have seen trailers running 445/50R22.5's.
