Freshly rebuilt "489" 8-3/4 with OEM 3:23 gears & sure-grip

GREAT deal on a rebuilt 8 3/4 center section from a knowledgeable and reputable member!

Thanks bud

I see your custom made bracket worked out well for holding a third member on your engine stand!

Yeah it works real good. I can rotate it when I need to. Much better when I used to manhandle them in a vise.

As far as the gears being 3:23, that would be a nice improvement for anyone (like me) that has 2:76 gears. How can I tell if I have a 489 case?

Thanks

Like Captain said it's right on the side of the case, the drivers side to be exact. If you look at my 1st picture you'll see the # 2881489. The last 3 digits are what we always call them by. A 489 case also generally has a big 9 on the drivers side. I also had a 742 case that had a big 2 on it. Not sure if the 741 has a 1 on it, been a long time since I looked at 1.
