I'm looking at buying an enclosed trailer to haul my Demon in, don't want to go too large, extra cost, extra weight harder to maneuver in tight spots plus a storage issue. And surely don't want it too small in order to put some extras inside. So what's a good size for the car, small generator, small grill, fold up pop up umbrella an a couple of lawn chairs? I have a 16 ft open car hauler now that is barely long enough.

You'll be disappointed if you don't go 24'. I owned 2 of them a few years back (Pace). Go ahead and tease me now guys...lol. I pulled them with HD pickups, but I doubt with a A body and your extra goodies it would weigh much more then 8k total. I suspect most current half tons could handle that. As said, the 24' will also give you the best resale.....think lawn services and such along with car haulers.

You can find really good deals on 20 foot trailers. Mine is a 12 year old interstate, it's listed as a 21 footer. It has a bench in front and a corner cabinet, and I still have room for a bunch of stuff in front. Ignore the FERD banner, that photo was taken during a test fit.

Thanks for the replies. I am looking at no more than a 24' but a 20' or 22' may do.

Kind of like garage space

Never big enough

I have a 24' and a 22'

Both pull about the same, have hauled my full size bronco, Dart, Prowler with trailer attached and my Imperial. With the 4' side door can load car ans STUFF. And then put the golf cart in sideways.

Might be nice with a 28' but I'm about out of the towing business to shows, so no need for a bigger one now.

Like others have said the 24' will have the best resale

Have a friend with a very nice 20' Wells Cargo for sale. Has left side escape door, LED lighting, always stored indoors. I think it would have sold long ago if it had been a 24

I also have a 20' and could not be happier. The only thing with the 20' is you can market it to yard lawn service people, swap meet people and car people. 1/2 ton regular trucks pull them well and you do not have a 1000 others just like it out there for sale at the same time. It also would cost a little less.. If you are buying new I would suggest a v nose.. Mine is just a flat front and my GMC listed below will get 13-14 mpg loaded. I looked at allot of trailers when I was shopping for one and I am happy I got my 20'. Not over kill and not to small.

I also have a Demon and am very happy with a 20' enclosed trailer. I no longer race so no need to carry a large amount of stuff. Now just to shows. lLawn chairs coolers and bikes. Have always had my trailers built by Steve Beimfohr at Triple B Trailer just out side St. Louis. If you want pm me for the phone # All Square tube not angle iron. I use a Suburban 1500 as a tow car so when we built the trailer I had it made so it was no taller than the top of the Suburban. Less weight to pull and less wind to push. Can drive in overdrive at 70-75 all day. Just my .02.

I also have a 20 ft. I hauled a dart swinger around a few years and now a sport, yes it is a little cramped at times, but having a bigger trailer will mean taking more stuff along, and then your tow weight would increase. I could've sold my 20 twice in the last year, but decided to hang onto it. Pulls nice, and if I need to do any work on the car while I'm out I can move the car back a few feet to work on it if I need to. Mine fits the bill for me fine. I have pulled mine loaded with a 1500 and now a 2500 and the 1500 did ok, worked a little on hills and gas mileage wasn't all that good but it did the job. Besides if I need to take anything along that I can't get in the trl. I can put it in the bed of the truck. Years ago I had an open trailer and a 1500 and it was fine, nice to have an enclosed to keep the car in, plus it's like a portable garage. I have found out over the years when racing that a lot of folks have to have big trailers, campers ect. just to go to their local track once or twice a month. All show. My two cents, Good luck with your decision.

Very sensable replies on the 20' trailers, I don't want overkill just large enough, and you're right 75ddart the more space the more stuff you will carry.

Left side escape doors are a huge plus, as are the torsion bar axles on the Pace trailers! My father in law bought a 28' Featherlite all aluminum trailer for 8K, best damn trailer I've seen! Half the weight of a steel 24'! He had to drive to Wisconsin from Michigan to get it, but worth every penny!! Pulled like a dream!! Geof

I would add that in my 20' I have a 12000lb winch from Harbor freight. Loading and unloading the car is very easy. No climbing in and out of my cars taking a chance on scratching them more than they already are. The winch was less than 300.

I bought a 24 ft Shadow Master used this year in Jan. Have used it several times to go to long distance shows. Also got used a lot to help friends and family MOVE!!!

I will also add that I also have a winch mounted inside the trailer. Super winch 3500 that I can use if needed. Once the car is in there and strapped down, it gets a little crowded, but I work around it. I believe I have about 2 to 3 feet in front of the car to move around and about the same in the back if the door is closed. My trailer doesn't have the driver access door, so if I drive the car in I just have enough room to squeeze out of the car, otherwise I pull the car onto the rear ramp door, hook up the winch and pull it in the trailer to the chock for the front tire, strap it down, and reach in and place in park. If I pull it a little closer on the right side a few inches that gives me more room on the driver's side. When I think about a larger trailer and room to take additional items that can't say be mounted on the walls and it takes up floor space and then you end up stepping over stuff. I have the winch mounted, and two chairs folded up in the R/S corner and a small box with fluids, mics stuff on the L/S corner. Little cramped, yes, but I work around it. Driver access door would be a plus in a 20 footer, but I got a deal on mine and its paid for. Only costs I have is a state insp. yearly and new tires every few years, not by wearing them out, but by sitting. Hope this helps.
