Hi all,

I purchased a Mopar Performance Timing Chain Tensioner from someone on ebay. The tensioner was well packaged and was sealed in a clear bag. The bag had no tag/part number, and the part itself does not appear to have any stampings/labels etc.

My question: Should this part have any markings to indicate it is a true MP part?

PS I am not posting the ebay link as I am not interesting in putting the seller on FABO Trial- Just looking for the facts, thanks. :burnout:

Here is a MP tensioner for sale from Jegs...

It has no Mopar markings on it...

I got 3 or 4 of them in use...dont remember see anything on them saying Mopar....

As with most thing MP sells..they dont make it...they contract them out to vendors...I believe Melling also sells the tensioner too....who might make them for mopar..

I got mine from a dealer and all it had was the Mopar part number on a sticker on the bag, nothing on the part itself.

Just installed one, along with a new cover. Had to relieve the cover about .030" to clear the spring side of the tensioner, was hitting. Might want to check the clearance just to be sure.

Thicker gasket? This part should be SOP for a rebuild or chain replacement. Good stuff.

Checked it with no gasket, had about .015" clearance between the gasket surface of the cover and the block. I suppose a man could run two gaskets or make a thicker single gasket, but I chose to just relieve the cover in that area instead. Still plenty of meat in the cover's face.
