new rebuilt tranny a slight drip around the filler tube, nothing big, but enough to fail tech at the track. New O ring on the tube. I have 2 O rings, would it help to put 2 of them on there??

Impossible... There is only one groove for one oring. add a small amount of silicone to the new oring and look closely for cracks around the oring groove they do tend to crack there from harsh removal.

Thanks, will give it a go!
What kind of silicone would you recommend, gasket maker?

Sometime it is the shift shaft seal that is leaking and is confused as the dip stick tube... Take a white paper towl and touch the casing around were the shifter linkage goes on... If it comes out with trans fluid on it that will be were the leak is, and it's running down around the dip stick tube... You will have to drain the pan and remove the valve body and install a new shift shaft seal from the inside of the casing... onecatnodog

I watched as the builder installed the new shaft seal, plus it's leaking from the front corner of the passenger side, not the driver's side.

You might also try going to the auto parts store, one that has a box of O-rings of different diameters and find one that's just a little fatter than the original. I've had a couple stubborn leakers and that has worked for me. Make sure you grease them up good before installation.

Of course if you find a crack like 68GTS mentioned no O-ring will seal it up

The reason I brought up is because the shift shaft seal had me looking for the leak for close to a week on and off.. It was on a rebuilt 727 trans.. It had a defective seal in the kit and it would leak once in a while and run down to the lip on the trans pan and if the car was parked on the street infront of the house the fluid would follow the trans pan lip clear to the other side of the pan.. Making it look like it was coming from a different place.

I appreciate that, I'll have a look when the weather warms up, because I have to drop the rear of the tranny to look, due to headers being in the way.
