The reason I brought up is because the shift shaft seal had me looking for the leak for close to a week on and off.. It was on a rebuilt 727 trans.. It had a defective seal in the kit and it would leak once in a while and run down to the lip on the trans pan and if the car was parked on the street infront of the house the fluid would follow the trans pan lip clear to the other side of the pan.. Making it look like it was coming from a different place.
