Points to electronic ignition for a 318

Pertronix is a clear winner when it comes to having a backup to get you home..

How's that ? Installing a set of points out of the glovebox ?
Good luck fumbling with that, especially at night. Your better off carrying a whole distributor. In a Chrysler system it's usually an ECU or Ballast.
Swapping out a set of points vs an ECU,who do you think will be on the road first ? No brainer.

There are story's all over the Internet,of stranded Pertronixs customers.
Pertronixs is "Not" the end all be all.

PS: I see your bashing Chinese products,we all do.
Guess where some of your precious Pertronixs parts are made/assembled ?
You guessed it.....China.

Having said that...Pertronix is an ok ignition, and works for many.
But when your application is calling for a real ignition, there are much better options.

Just because you fumble around when you do things doesn't mean everyone else does. You want to have a spare distributor rolling around in the trunk of your car then that's up to you. If your to inept to drop in a set of points then I guess that's your problem.
Most Chinese products made under an established brand name are ok because they have to meet certain quality standards, it's the mass produced no name stuff that is the problem, like that distributor.
As far as I know the conversion ignitions are still made in the USA.
