true plug and play!

I called mike this week and talked to him for a few minutes, and talked about the eagle motors and vvt, it sounded very promising. He wasn't sure about a few things so I need to research some more things and call him back.

Like is the eagle motor cam reluctor wheel the same as the 08 and down motors as well the crank wheel? He also said he would need to source some electrical plugs for the vvt.

That is why the other systems dont work because the eagle motors are totally different, Here is one option that is already proven to work with a VVT Hemi's

Self tuning through tunerstudio is an "extra" feature you have to pay for.....Its cheap at $59 or so but its misleading when they sell it as self tuning, then zing you for that ability to be enabled....not cool.

Their "out of the box" tuning is for either a stock 6.1 or stock 5.7. It would be pretty hard to have tunes out of the box for every single combo on the planet. For $60, the ability to tune it myself is a bargain.

I purchased the EFI SOURCE MS3 gold box plug and play , late last year .
I will be using F&B's new 85 mm cable throttle body , which I am told, 'by efi source' will be available soon , 'guessing a month or two .

If anyone is interested I can put up a some photos so you can get a better look at what you get for the money .

The guy who made tuner studio doesn't have any interest in Megasqurt. He only makes money if you pay for the extra features in tunerstudio. I don't mind paying him knowing that.

You can download and use tunerstudio free. It's the 'auto tune' feature that he was referring to- you have to pay for access to that.

Make sure you get the mega log viewer as well ($20-$30). Can't view logs without it.

All my dyno tuning was done using logs.

I used the 'auto tune' to dial in idle, part throttle cruising, etc., while in the street.

Those two 'add ons' are well worth it for a beginner tuner. Sure, you can tune without them. But know at a minimum you need a way to log AFR's to RPM's.

I would tell any one thinking of doing a mega squirt setup to wait for someone to come out with a plug and play ms3-pro harness for the Gen3 cars.

OK here's some pics of my EFI source plug & play .
I couldn't resist a look inside , to me the board looks like that of the MS3 PRO , but the box is definatly not water proof .

I could make that work. I talk to Mike the other day and he mentioned the 85mm throttle body. We decided ill stick with the 92mm. The plug ins look ms3 pro and I don't need waterproof.

Where does the SD card go?

Wow... I remember when MegaSquirt units were about $500 with all the sensors needed.

Seems lots of people are jacking up the price for the sake of "Plug and Play"

Riddler , I would say quality of the board , compared to regular ms3 , would add to the price , but alot of the extra dollars come from the plugs on the loom ,

72bbswinger , SD card goes in the slot , rear view of box .

I get it. The simple answer is that nothing done well is cheap. MS3 with MS3X prebuilt is $650.00 another $600.00 for a harness is not out of line, especially since in comparison hotwire charges $1000.00.

For what it's worth, pretty sure there is a free version of the log software that lets you view your log files. The "registered" version has the auto-tune feature that will read over a log file and recommend fuel map changes, similar to the live auto-tune that TunerStudio has. Actually, I think it says it's the same algorithm, just doesn't require a live hookup to the computer to tune. Might be some other features that get unlocked as well, but still not a bad deal compared to other options on the market.
