I think we're talking about two separate worlds here...most of the time, rich collectors are searching out the best cars out there; they are not interested in cars that we average guys would gladly own.
I could agree with you somewhat, but actually, a great number of these cars are not "the best cars out there" as has been discussed.. And you have the trickle down aspect, where the guy with the rustbucket sees the barret-jackson sale prices, then figures his car is worth a lot more than it really is. Again, BAD for the hobby.
