wiw? I just had two people within the last 24 hours tell me its a $500 car at best, I know it isn't but what do you think its worth? Im trying to sell it now for $5,800 obo but don't know if im crazy? you can see the for sale thread for pics because Im on a different computer but ill post the description here.

I have a 1972 340 4 speed duster for sale or trade. It is a original petty blue 340 4 speed car. no build sheet or fender tag that I found so far. the sides of the car have been repainted once but there is very little to no bondo, very solid. one of the past owners was fighting with his girlfriend and ran into a school bus and pushed in the front. he took the front apart and bought replacements but then left it. I have the fender that is on the car and one for the drivers side. I have a new/old inner fender for the drivers side also. the guy repaired the left front frame very ugly and I also have a replacement frame. The quarters are very solid and I have a drivers side trunk and quarter extension with some quarter panel sheet metal good for patches. The floor pans are very good but have surface rust. In my opinion the car would need a trunk floor because it needs a spare tire well and there is rot where it bend up to the tail light panel. The car has a a833 4 speed ( as far as I know original) and a 318 because the owner blew up the original 340. the 318 does have the 340 manifolds on it. The car comes with a complete oil pan to intake 1972 340 and a kelsy hays disc brake setup. I would like to trade for a 1970-1971 cuda project but WILL consider all mopar trades or $5,800 obo

Thanks

500 not hardly. I would pay 5500-6000 IF the car was completely rust free, your's isn't.

With the rusty stuff that needs replacing it's a maybe 3500 at best. I wouldn't pay more than that and the trans would have to be original for me to be in that range. More likely in the 3K range. I think you received a pretty fair assessment from another member in your "I bought it" thread.

Where is the sharktooth grille? That's a BIGGIE!

Then again, you may find that one person that has to have that particular car.

Good luck with your sale.

I don't know, it's a 72, lower compression, cast motor, rust. From a west coast perspective. Your price is probably high but I think $500 is insulting. Maybe some place in the middle is my thought.

Here are the cons...
No buildsheet
No fender tag
Original motor gone
Been wrecked
bad economy

I think $5800.00 is a bit high.Hunt for that buildsheet.Look above the gas tank,on top of the glove box liner, under the headliner, under the seats, hell take off the door panels and look behind them.I do not blame you for starting at $5800.00 you just need that right person.I think $3500.00 would be fair unless you find that buildsheet.Maybe drop it to $4500.00 and see what happens. There is always Ebay...

Don't get mad at me but I think you are too high for a car with frame damage and rust. I'm thinking in the 3k to 4k range. Definitely worth a lot more than 500 bucks though.

For what it's worth, I would leave the personal history type information (stuff I highlighted yellow) out of the ads. Stuff in red - wouldn't we all? I would definitely leave that out, it's probably pissing off the natives.

IMO these guys have prices it a bit high on a sellers/selling price. The amount of work on the rust issue is actually a lot. I'm sorry, but there is a lot of rust on the car unseen. Been down this road. Did someone mention the reliant issue? And without the fender tag... Yikes! My friend!

The repaired frame area and that other one picture is showing a horror in waiting.
With these issues, I have to say again, people are generous in there WIW price.
I hate to insult but I feel that if I can't tell you MHO on a WIW, the. I'm no friend.

$2000 - $2500 max if it is complete and the rusty area floor pan area is better than what the pictures show.

Not to add salt to the wound, but I've paid less for better. And recently.

I agree with Rob, car needs alot of TLC and money to make it nice, IMO it's worth $1500-2000 tops. My dad just sold a 67 Barracuda notch with a Texas body, car needs a resto but is complete and in great shape with a title, a FABO member here bought it for less than your Duster asking price and we are delivering it to Wisconsin next weekend.

It is still a 340 car.But with the economy the way it is I agree you could find a better car for the money.Rust it always twice as bad as it looks.Fender tag and or buildsheet would really help.Damn economy no one has money...

Thanks...should have looked....that car is beyond my abilities so my opinion would be useless...good luck with the sale..

Sorry but it`s a rusty, wrecked A-body, the only thing going for it is a 340/ 4spd car but with no build sheet or even fender tag that doesn`t add much value. I`ve seen better projects for $2000 so I`m thinking $1500-1700, anything over $2500 would be a stretch.

Bucket seats $500.00
340 engine $500.00-$700.00
tranny with shifter and bellhousing. $500.00-$600.00
8 3/4 non sure grip $500.00-$700.00 sure grip $700.00-$1000.00

And I have seen the 72 seats sell for a lot more. And I have seen the complete tranny set up sell for $1000.00
$1500.00 car come on.....I still think it is worth 3K easy, atleast here in the Midwest.

That is why some decent cars get parted out, they are worth more in parts than complete.

$500 LOL!!!! Id part it out 1st. IMO way to nice to part out. Pretty cool color, and a factory 340 4 gear. I would agree w the $3500- $4000 range. JMO have seen rust free 72 brown survivor in my neck of the woods for $15K all #s car w build sheet. Even though you don't have them items, it will still make someone an awesome cruiser w a little tlc.

No 340, has a 318 plus all the hassle of parting it and shipping, parting it out or selling it whole I think it`s a wash.

Gotcha, has a 318 in it but comes with the 340. Still not gonna be a lot more $$ parting it.

I think that 340 Duster would fetch about $3500-4000 up here. We are used to starting with RUSTY project cars. I could imagine guys from the dry Southern States would be scared of it though. $500 is a BONEHEADED, INSULTING, assessment, in the first place. Mind you every car guy I know wants something for nothing. It's one of the things that leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the hobby. Just sayin'.............
