This is a experimental air cleaner Chrysler made for a guy who raced in 1960's , it was made for a 383 or 413 dual inline 4 barrels, possibly may fit a hemi, Only 1 of 1 ever made as the story goes, has original package with it

Do you have any verifiable documentation/authentication to support your claim?

Other than the "story".

Cool, the filter has "FRAM EXPERIMENTAL SAMPLE" printed on it....cool stuff but would like to see more pictures of it. Any other numbers on it?

Cool, but I would need documentation for the asking price. Also the wing nuts may look silly the way they are positioned.

I emailed Nick at Nick's Garage. He's somewhat of an expert on rare air cleaners. He said it is entirely probably this is the real deal because Fram did make the filters for Chrysler in that era. Also, the base and top surely don't look like they were made in somebody's back yard. I think it's kinda cool.

Don't mean to post in the ad again, but I pretty sure Fram took Chryslers blueprints and made some of the Mopar air cleaners too, then supplied them to Chrysler, I know this was done with the 426 Hemi and Air Grabber ones in 69-71. Maybe Fram made this air cleaner as well? Very cool :glasses7:

I had a 62 Dart with a 383 dual 4,, 343hp...

My A/Cleaner was black,, but I can't remember it being any different than that,, from what I can see of it..

But that was a loong time ago....my .02

If you had a 62 with a factory inline dual 4bbl cast iron intake manifold, the air cleaners used were two oval ones, like the ones in my picture.
They were used from the factory 1958 - 1962.

If the OP can verify that they do fit these intakes, and can provide some more information, we possibly can talk price.

No, the Buick stuff is much different. The only similarity is Buick used one air cleaner for two carbs. They are vastly different. I know because I can take a short drive and put my hand on a Buick air cleaner. With a badass Nailhead under it.

COOL stuff!!!!! What's the center to center carb stud holes in the top?
Does this fit like the '57 Desoto 383 dual 4 barrel?

No such thing as a 57 DeSoto 383 dual 4 bbl engine.
Never heard of that one before.
325 and 341 V8 engines.

I'm pretty sure my friend had one. Desoto adventurer. 383 dual 4 barrel, one of the first 1 horse power per cubic inch motor???

The air cleaner is for the Carter four barrel carbs, which have smaller openings than the standard 5.125". You can get adapters for the 5.125 stuff.

Thank-you,,

As soon as I saw the pic, I realized I was confusing it with something else,, not sure what,,, it was a long time ago,.. cheers.
