hi all,
anyone found a good way to buff or renew their taillight/marker lens.what do you use?thanks in advance, kent

Meguiars Plastic Polish and a little elbow grease goes a long ways. Just did the side marker lights for my 70 duster and it worked like a charm!

MAAS metal polish was made to remove scratches on bell helicopter plexiglass windshields. It also works great for plastic headlights and great on wedding rings.

Get a small wool pad/foam pad for a drill and some rubbing compound. Autogeek.net has a lot of good stuff.

We do a lot of it here at the shop. I can tell you that the more time you put into it, the better it will look and last. We use a 3M kit and you are basically sanding them smooth. It works very well if you are willing to spend the time.

Depending on the part, there's a certain amount you can do by hand but for some jobs a canton flannel wheel on your bench grinder and a stick of plastic polish is the way to go. You've got to have a light touch and keep it moving or it will burn the plastic.

What make do you recommend for the stick of plastic polish??

I use a buffer, a little bit of water, and toothpaste. It renews plastic headlights like new.

It's a compound designed for polishing plastic. You can get it online but found it and other metal polishing compounds at the local hardware store along with buffing wheels. The plastic compound is very fine. The metal compounds are more abrasive: Emery, tripoli, stainless.
