Does anyone have a '68 or '69 A body that was painted GG1 Racing Green from factory. I need to know what color the dash would have been painted. I know the paint would have been satin, but not sure what color. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Well you see I'm confused. The car was supposedly repainted in 1986. The color looks very close to GG1. So checked the fender tag says GG1, but under hood and engine bay are a different green, I think probably F8, and it looks as if it wasn't repainted. Oh yes and the interior green on doors and door sills look as if they are close to F8. The dash is satin green, but not same shade as GG1, but more on the F8 side. I am assuming the car exterior was F8 from new, and changed to GG1 when repainted. But, I cannot understand the fender tag listing GG1? Regardless I am going with GG1, so I need correct green for dash??

The deal with Chrysler's color coordinating interiors, is that they are not the same paint code as the outside of the car. They may look close, but the interior colors were finished in what is referred to as a suede finish and the color, itself, is actually a different formula.

Organisol is very similar, but it is a little too coarse in texture. This paint was formulated, using the same texturizer, but has less of it to get the correct finish.

What you may have to do, if you are going totally legit, is to get the Ditzler interior paint code page from 1968 and find the color, that way.

If you can get the Ditzler code, PPG has cross references for the toner, but it may not be the correct texture/ gloss.

If I were you, I'd get ahold of some suede paint. There is a guy who formulated some and sells it, or you can get ahold of some PPG organisol and cut it down as you please, to match texture, then shoot the basecoat color over the top and leave it.

GG1 is a '68 only code. in '69, the color may have been close, but the fender tag went to a single alphanumerical deal (F8, for example, instead of two letters with a number following).

That suede paint is actually what they used on factory Gull and Go wings, as well. I've used organisol and the suede paint, I have both and they are close, but the suede is without a doubt, exactly what they used on the dashes of these cars, black or in color.

my 67 383 fish is GG1 code but H6X interior so it is black. GG1 in close color form was avail from 65 to 68, 64 and earlier were a lighter shade. 69 would have been closest at EF8 color but definitely looks a different color.

My 67 interior color chart shows two dark green codes -
43137 - low metallic and I would think more for dash etc
43435 - med metallic remainder of interior, door frames trim panels etc.

instrument panel color calls for "low gloss"

If is a white interior car the dash and carpet should be black, and the headliner white. But you never know with Mother Mopar...

I want to thank you guys for all the good information. You see it may be possible that where the car has green carpet and headliner, it may have been changed from factory green to white seats and door panels. Not many numbers on the fender tag, but would the interior paint code be on it, and if so what type of number would I look for.

Thanks for the great info guys. Now I know she had green interior from new. Appreciate the help.

My 69 Dart was originally F-3 exterior and F-8 green interior. The F-8 was a common color in this era.
