My Dart is very original and a big part of me wants to keep the dealership tag when it is repainted. Only problem is that it shows everyone of it's 4+ decades. The dealership is long gone, so it's not like I'm advertising for it and the car is an Albuquerque native. The tag adds to the ambiance, IMHO...

Anyone know of a shop that can refinish these, or is it something that a local chroming shop can take care of it - thoughts?

I assume it's made of potmetal? If so, it can be restored or replated....I would keep it with the car too, very cool!

Most restorer of dash bezels can do that I'm sure. I vote you keep it too. It is a part of you cars history.

NICE tag!!! Gotta keep it on the car! If anything you could clean it up and paint it with rattle can chrome finish paint. Then detail it with flat or semi gloss black?

Chrome shop might ruin it?

Maybe someone here with a cnc machine can make you a new one...Maybe have a decal made that looks just like it.

I spoke with a local chrome shop here in CA, and I believe they acid-dip it, then fill in any pock marks with lead, then re-chrome it. Yeah, that's super cool.....I'd keep it.

I really like dealer emblems ever since i go this 21k mile survivor MODTOP in Feb 2000, you can see it at the left side of the finish panel. It's just cool having it with the original paperwork from the dealership. Not sure if i have a close up pic. I also bought a really cool one not long ago, i'll have to get a pic of that one.

There use to be a Oldsmobile dealer here by the name of Rocket Olds that had metal tags. I kept everyone I got and used my die grinder to change the R into a F, O into a U, and the E into a I.

ROCKET became FUCKIT in 5 minutes and I sold them for $10.
I still have 1 or 2 in my tool box and will post a picture in a day or two. It's too cold to go out there and dig now.

Keep it and leave it alone. Just clean it up carefully!!! I put the Nashville Dodge back on the car after paint. Adds to the cool factor!

I have been picking up the old pot metal dealer tags, the license plate frames, emblems and such for years. If I don't have anything to put them on, they are garage "Art." Just scored two pairs of defunct Seattle-area dealer plate frames this AM. My Travco was from Lynnwood Dodge and the Valiant (and quite possibly the '72 Scamp, have to check w/original owner on that) was from NW Chrysler Plymouth.
The NW ones are NOS- have never been on a car or seen the light of day for 25+ years until today (well, it is Seattle, so 'light of day' in February is a relative term, LOL!).
To me they tie in the orphan cars (and motor coach in the one case) with dead dealerships from the "Old" Seattle area and times from my childhood when I lived here. They're are to cool now...

You must keep it. It's probably pot metal and will cost 75 to 100 to replate, but it will be worth every penny. If you can't afford it use as is. It's very cool and you will only have it once. Here's mine where the car was purchased it's a 65 Valiant and I will never get rid of it. It's not perfect but who cares. Now if I can figure out how to rotate the pic.

Like you need me to tell ya to keep it, BUT send it to Leanna/cudachick1968...she is our mistress of metal and she could do some nice powdercoating to it for ya

Wish I knew where my car was originally sold, I would def put a dealer tag back on it !

Agree with the masses, Keep It! I had a Peninsula Dodge Plastic Emblem that I glued thin refrig magnets on and at car shows I would pop it out of the glove box and on the trunk. Here is another one I found. It's going to be used on the Lancer. I have no idea where the dealer was.........

Yes, keep it on. And I was also gonna suggest you to send it to Leanna. She will do it right.

Thanks for the mentions Steve and R4! :-D I could probably do it some justice but only if you aren't in a hurry Geo -- I'm totally slammed right now and will be for awhile. Yours looks to be in MUCH better shape than j-miller's 800 truck emblems were (his dealership tags were really awful), but it's an alternative to replating.

It's history, I'd keep it for sure. Not to mention it's super cool! "Dodge Country" where are you going to get something like that?
