1971 Plymouth Scamp in Florida

Hello everyone,

I am a proud new owner of a 1971 Plymouth Scamp that I just picked up yesterday. This is not my first a body, I had purchased a 74 dart back in 99 when I was still in Michigan and it turned out to be a true Michigan car. I think that the previous owners believed it was safer to follow the salt truck in a snow storm because they thing was rotten everywhere, that was a 600 dollar lesson learned. Lol. Back in 99 I started to gather parts for an a body build and I still have the garage bay full of stuff to this day, this includes my 400 stroker with max wedge stage 6 heads.

I have casually searched for a car for the last fifteen years and never really found one that I felt excited about until last week, while searching craigslist I came across a running and driving scamp that looked to be a solid car. After a 10 hr day on the road yesterday I now have that car sitting in my garage :happy6::-D! It is every bit as solid as it looked in the pictures, it was built as a drag car so it has been stripped down to nothing but thankfully not butchered, it has a running 360 stroker with a 727 reverse manual trans and a 8 3/4 with 4:11 gears. The previous owner said it runs mid 11's, I have driven this car and it is scary! Not scary fast, scary if you want to turn lol. It launches straight and tracks straight but there is a ton of play in the steering and you need to come close to a stop before you make a turn. Lol. I have a trans am that will run 11.8 all day and then drive across the country while cruising at 100 mph if I wanted so for me the scamp is not fast enough to be a committed drag car. Plus I don't go to the track enough to have a drag car.

I have a huge list for this car, obviously fresh paint is high on that list so I can start putting it back together, I am looking at full suspension, interior, and I will eventually stuff the 400 into it. Here are a couple pics, it was dark when we got home but I will take some better ones today. I look forward to getting to know you guys.
