All...always thought these we're the same blocks so do not the same intake manifolds fit both???

Sorry if this is a dumb question

Two different blocks
350 361 383 are B blocks
413 426 440 are RB blocks
The RB blocks have a taller deck so the heads are farther apart then the B blocks.
So two different intakes.

As to why 413-426-440 RB engines are referred to as tall deck and 350-361-383-400 B engines are referred to as low deck..and yes 2 distinct different intakes...

Not dumb at all. You won't know till you ask.

Deck for B engines - 9.980

Deck for RB engines - 10.725

The taller deck height engines (RB which means raised block or raised B engine) must have a wider intake. Since the decks of the taller block are taller, they are also wider apart.

................n of course pushrods are longer for RB

different distributors too
True...rb version is longer shaft than b engine distributors, and yes they did make a rb version of the 383,think only 1 or 2 yrs and think 59-60yrs..pretty rare to find one and apparently not popular or special....
