The only good 5-speed trans for strength made in the 90's is the NV4500. You wouldn't want that in a car even if it would fit.

The T56 6-speed is by far the best thing made in the 90's. Right gearing 1-4 as well. Good and strong.

The A-833 is ultra beefy. by the time you get done messing around, you probably could have just added a gear vendors to an A-833.
