Anyone see any problems installing the oil temperature sender here?

It's a good thing that they move the distributor to the front, so it didn't get in the way....

There are integrated senders with 3 terminals that are smaller, and serve both functions. I remember seeing a part number at the allpar.com sight.

I would worry about vibration introducing leaks or failure in the plumbing above.

If you are talking about the oil TEMP sender on the right side of the engine, I think it will ok there.

All of it, one of my concerns is vibration, the other is restricting cam oiling. The temp sender is about 3/4 of an inch.

I don't see any problem with the setup today or tomorrow.

Thanks, just was not sure if those "passages" were just for ports or what. Been out of it for a while.

I do............how is that giving you "oil" temp? That oil is going through passages in the block, seems to me all you are getting is "block" temp, IE just a different place for the "temp" sender you already have. The traditional place for oil temp is in the pan.

Two reasons, first it's just plain ugly, and second it will only give you block temperature.

Here is the pressure sender/switch PN 53030493, to replace A and B with C. This is from the Allpar site. The single sensor gets rid of plumbing extension, reducing potential vibration problems. There may be a vibration mode that will shake the sensor.

I agree with others, the temperature sender will not read oil temperature, need a position of flow or oil pan for that.

I'd bet ya 20 bucks it would snap off right where the red line is, and at the worst possible place in the middle of nowhere.
(too much weight and leverage to trust it)

I think Kit's suggestion is the best way to go.

I know it would be a pain in the butt, but you could weld a bung in the oil pan if you need an oil temp that bad.
Never really saw a need for it on a street car though, since coolant temp will tell you what you need to know.

I think I will put a bung in the pan since the motor is on a stand, and split the gauge and switch. Thanks to all for the input! My kid bought me a 4 in one for Xmas and I kind of have to use it at first at least. It is a tach, oil press, oil temp and also water temp.

Just stick with coolant temp. If the oil temp is ever elevated, the coolant temp will tell you.

Any one need a cheap oil press gauge? 20 and the ride has the sensor. Will block my vision!

Dang, that guy cleaned out Pep Boys! Is that a joystick under the computer keyboard?

Just a thought, but if you're so worried about oil temp, I guess you're racing or towing? just a thought, but maybe install an external oil cooler with an inline temp sender? Heck, you can do what I did with my trans cooler and install hi and low temp senders wired to a double throw toggle, so you can check hot temp and temp drop of the cooler.

Just want to beat up the daughters boyfriends rice burners. After the money I do not have to do this I just want to make sure, and the gauges are intimating to the young pups. Retired USAF SPECOP/USN SAR

A customer wanted a full compliment of guages in his race car,so I installed them. next race he proceeded to blow the engine, I ask him what the guages read before it blew, he said ZERO, why didnt you stop? I asked, he said "I thought the Guages were broken" True Story.
