Need help with trans ID

Count the number of bolts and view the transmission pan shape on the automatic transmission. According to the Teufert website the Torqueflite 727 has an irregular-shaped pan with 14 bolts fastening the pan to the bottom of the transmission housing. The Torqueflite 904 has 14 bolts with a rectangular-shaped pan with one corner on an angle. See diagrams below.

How to read PK4431428 9705 to make sense

PK..........plant code....Kokomo
4431 428 part number Not a good number
.............For a 70 or 71 should start with 34?? or 35?? except early 70 727 which start with 2892
9705......date code....suggests the transmission was made 22 Feb., 1988. http://maxwedge.com/articles/10k.php Mopar 10,000 day calendar.

I double checked to make sure that you hadn't come up with a case part number by mistake. No luck.

It is highly possible that a much later model year transmission has been installed. Or at the very least a later model case was installed. Mopar started using the 904 when the LA 273 was introduced in 64. There was a gear ratio change in 77 ???, and another in 1981 when first gear was changed from 2.45:1 to 2.70:1.
