That's crazy, because if everyone merged left when the sign says too, traffic would never stop flowing. It's the idiots that stay in the wrong lane until the last minute that imped traffic. We did this one day, four abreast, to stop a bottleneck, and some lady in a SUV ran down through the median at 65 MPH laying on the horn to get past. It was ridiculous. We all waved when we passed her at the lane closure.
