your Mopar's story

I had a minor fender-bender back in 1982 and an insurance adjuster called me to discuss it, in the conversation he asked if I knew anybody interested in buying an old Dart, I said yes I`ll look at it me and a friend drove to Orange N.J. to look at it , I had owned several Dusters and Darts in the past and this one wasn`t bad, it had a bad right front fender a ripped front seat , a 7 1/4 rear and an old 318 with nothing but headers and mufflers. $400 later it was mine and on its way home. I found a 68 Dart sedan sitting behind a gas station near my home that had a good right font fender which had the " Sport Special " tag on it and had one on the left fender also. I bought the whole car for $200 took what I needed and sold the car back to the station. I put the fender on my car along with the Sport Special tags and they still remain on the car today and nobody knows what it is. Now almost 32 years later, soon to be on its 8th different small block combo ( R block, Indy 360-1 headed pump gas 408 ), numerous paint touchups, a mini tub job, and many other things its gone from a mid 15 second car to the mid 10s ( 10.40 best) back to the mid 11s and winning more than ever. Its been to many Mopar events as far away as Ohio, Indy and Virginia to name a few, 10 NED Bracket Finals and was the 2013 Island Dragway Street Eliminator Points Champion and 2013 NED Street Race of Champions participant as well as being featured in High Performance Mopar magazine back in 1997, I`ve bracket raced it almost since the time I got it and still am having a blast with " Goldie " as my wife calls it. I also have a 92 D150 2WD, 5.2, standard cab, short bed pickup I bought new and still own that I cruise, show and bracket race. As well as an 08 Hemi Quad Cab 4WD for towing and bad weather transportation..... tgfastfishs Dart looks a lot like mine did right down to the color and I had a 74 Dart Sport similar in color to Dartnuts I bought for $200 ( no motor or trans ) whats weird it still had the 4 inch bolt pattern wheels with intentions of building another race car, I did a few things, put an 8 3/4 rear in added a scoop like that, fuel system, some interior work , bought Schumacher mounts but decided to sell it because the the trunk floor was so rusted, i sold it to a guy on Long Island for $1,000.
