OK, was reading the post on the bets for someones 360 on the HP and I did not want to hijack the thread, so here is mine.

1974 360 .60 over
Stock crank and rods
Keith black 191s
Factory 587 head, decked for square, 2.02 and larger exhaust valves, no port work (These are the smog heads with airports blocked off, ?cop car heads?)
Eddie performer rpm intake
Mp purple cam .528 mechanical lift
Mp lifters
All above is new, ootb, fresh machined and ready to go

These are used, and in great condition
Holly 750 vs with ProForm body
Mp electronic ignition

Headers - not purchased yet, but thinking something with ceramic coat, tuned and as large as possible? TTI, Dougs, etc

Going behind an 833

This has not been fired yet and I have been waiting to drop in my 70 Cuda. However, I am in the process of building a 451 which was going in my Dart, but I may place it in the Cuda and sell the 360.

So I am looking at potential HP for the 360 (451 target is 600 with no power adders)

HP thoughts? - and my target is FUN for me, not for the tires

What's the compression?

kb 191 are domed....

KB says 11.8 with 72 cc head.....

70 - Was what I was estimating as well
Also, Comp Roller rockers as well, 1.5's

i would say about 390 to 410HP, the unported heads hurt a little, at the very least i would pocket port and gasket match with a slimming of the pushrod pinch

Then let me estimate since I still have no concrete compression ratio. 6 HP.

What size headers? What ignition ? gear, tire size..

315 hp 356tq at the tire

If it was me work those heads can get probally another 40 hp and tq out of it.

Ill say close to 400hp. I agree heads are going to hurt you. Unported those heads will flow around 220-230 cfm @ .500 and flow # fall after. 500 lift.

Gentlemen,
Thanks - agree the heads are going to hurt, was thinking on some W2's, but not sure I want to go that route at this time.

Rusty - yes, concrete is dense and I think you are over-estimating with 6, and I think JW had it right

Get a shop to work there magic on them heads and you will see a 30-40 HP gain. Not sure on port work prices out there but I can have a set of heads worked in Maine for $400-$500

Tony - Agree, last time at Fallon DA was 6800 - ouch

All, agree heads are the weak point, when this started out I was not looking to build a moderate to high HP motor, just settled that way. DustOff440's link was very useful.

Thanks

I have used that cam--you can expect 390 HP and about 410-415 ft/lbs. There are MUCH better cams out there nowadays. J.Rob
