Anybody have a 6.4 Hemi they want to sell. I'm looking to put one in my truck...

Try looking on

www.car-parts.com

My brother is an insurance claim agent and uses that all the time to look up prices on car parts. Mostly salvage yards that will ship and give a warranty.

Enter your location and see what is available and shop for mileage and price.

Are you looking for new or used? Dave Weber usually has one or two crate motors at Modern Muscle Performance and there's usually a couple on Ebay. If you wait just a little while, the new RAMs will have a truck version of the 6.4 Those will start showing up used at salvage yards, etc. Seems like that would be pretty cool to put in an older truck

Ebay. Cleveland pick a part has complete packages for sale. Engine, trans, and all of the electronics that go with it. My buddy is debating on one for his scamp ...

My how wrong you are ! If you know what you are doing you can use EVERYTHING .. even the rear tone wheels / speed sensors .... The car will be drive by wire, still use the factory skim keys and everything .. Fuel pumps will not be used ...

Sure at $7650 + 800 core charge, + 400 shipping = $8850

I can buy it from Monicatti Dodge for $6500 + shipping

Why is there a core charge on a brand new engine ?

Because Chrysler charges a core charge for it, we also offer a warranty!

You are correct anything can be done with enough time and money.
The reason I stated that is because it is not a simple swap, Most customers want a true plug and play setup that anybody with some mechanical experience can do.

Absolutely true. Time and money are a big factor, I was just saying that everything can be used in a swap. Not worth it in my eyes but different strokes for different folks right ! ....

I just read postings on the charger site, that the late 5.7 (2009-2014) as well as the 6.4 were NOT great candidates for dropping in our A-Bodies or trucks. That the theft alarms, throttle control make it difficult to use in other cars. Like my intentions of using a manual, like Passon's 5-speed, or the 518-A 90's transmissions, or torque flight, these transmission would not be useable. I guess this question is aimed at Moder Muscle as he seems to have a lot of experience here.

Physically, it's the same as the 6.1 and 03-08 5.7. The same motor mounts and trans options etc. They also make more power across the board in stock form. The difference comes from the engine management systems. Muscle Motors has a kit based on a stock ecm and other venders could put together comparable system using a reprogrammed 09-10 challenger 6 speed ecm and custom harness. The new $1,300 MS3 system is said to be able to run the VVT function so there is another option.

I am building a 09 5.7 for my coronet with an a833. Only difference is the ecm and ill have to use 6.1 style headers due to the revised exaust port opening. No big deal.

Keep researching. It can be done with only slightly more hassle and expense.

What truck are you doing tin?

Wow Tincup, that is SWEET!! I had a 67 100 longbed 383 truck that I replaced with a 440. One of my best trucks with sweet memories. Always wanted it to be a short bed but could never find the right components. Finally sold it when a genuine Lil Red Express came along. The 67 had way more character!

This was all just before the new Gen. Hemis came along. The lessor weight of the Gen3 will be killer compared to the big ol' 440. Personally, I'd suggest a 6.1 in there. That would be way plenty HP and torque for that lil truck. A 392 would be crazy in there. Although, crazy can be a lot of fun!

Seriously though, a 6.1 would be much less of a pain in the butt to get up and running and still be overkill in that truck. You'll enjoy the end result either way. Good luck / have fun...
