I posted this ad in the Wanted section also but here goes: I took my 69 Dart conv. apart many years ago and have misplaced the LEFT front transition molding for the GT cars. I still may have it somewhere, but just in case I'm sending out a feeler so that when it's time for the pot metal plating (very soon!) and I can't find mine, I can go to you guys for one. It's about 2" long and 90 degree bend. It goes right to the door jam at the top of the quarter. Here's a pic.
thanks,
Martin

so your transition stops at the 1/4 glass?- I think somewhere i read that 1967 had that style of transition while 68-69 has a different piece that slides into a stainless trim to the door opening (jim lusk) was the person i recall with this info-- broaden your search to 67 -69 cars & hopefully something will show up. Good Information,
Thanks Lawrence

68 is different. I believe 67 and 69 are the same. My son has those parts at his house for his 67 so I can't look at casting number to see if they are exactly the same.

Jim I do not think the 68 is different, I think there were 2 styles of transition pieces,(for the 67-69 years)
the cut-off style like Martin is searching for & the style that slides underneath a stainless trim piece along the top of the 1/4 glass area.

Dallas (mobodyman) has a 68 dart convert for parts-- it has the same transition piece that my 69 has & that Layson's reproduces.

in one of the links above the piece is for a 68.

Jim,
I think the casting number I need is: 2805793, for the left side.

above thread has the post about 67 trim.

this is the other style-- which you probably already know, i'm searching for the the thread about your piece now & will post it up when I find it.

did you ever buy new repo glass? thanks Lawrence

Lawrence,
The only repo glass I bought was the windshield and the vent glasses. I found one NOS right door glass for a cool grand, I think I'll pass on that one.....
I think I'll try to polish mine. I'm a little concerned about the matching of the vent glasses to the door and quarter glasses, looks a little off to me. Once the weather breaks, I'll get the repo windshield, repo vents, and OEM glasses out and look in the sun.

68 has the top stainless all the way forward and has the transition moulding that slides under. I had picked up a spare set at one time to convert my son's 67, but he chose not to change. I've never had a 69, so I don't know what they used...

Sorry Jim, let me clarify my 69 has the transition piece that slides under the stainless trim. (like Layson's repopped)& 1968 version linked above), Martin's 69 has the 67 style with no slide piece. Who knows why?

Martin, I was just curious-- is your glass tinted/shaded or clear? I have spare clear 1/4 glass.

Also I have a secret on the vent glass I'll pm you.

Jim, You are absolutely correct. I found a 67 parts car today and these transitions are the same,

Thanks Again,
Martin

Two styles of transition mouldings. One style is for cars without the belt moulding the other is for cars with the belt mouldings. Belt mouldings: 1/4 and door tops.
69 Cars, some have belt mouldings and the transition that tucks under the chrome some don't and are of the type I see in the given picture by the originator of this thread, my experience is most don't in 69. 67 as far as I know are the same deal as 69 but may have been installed more frequent? As for 68 I am unsure, but seeing that the body style was little changed for the three years I cannot see why that would change.
Anyway, as far as the 69 transition moulding goes, that one I know for sure :)

Looks like the piece on my car

If you are planning on getting it plated might want to find better ones than that for quality job

I was able to find some really nice ones when the ones off my car got plated and they lost the detail in grinding to remove the pits.

Good luck

Hey Guys,
Just got a call from Dave Layson. The repo 67 & 69 style short transition moldings are now in stock. They are like these in my previous post IMG_3681.jpg He was contacting all on the BO list first and will probably have several sets to sell. Thought I'd let you guys know...

Talked to Rick at Laysons in May. He told me to check back late summer, and I did. Will be placing the order soon. Rick is a funny guy to talk to, bug him about his "eyebrows that twitch uncontrollably".
