What would it take to carry the front wheels to the 60' beams?

Although it looks really cool, you are better off having the car go down the track with the front wheels on the ground. It takes horsepower to get the front end in the air- horsepower that could be used to lower your et. Now let the hating begin!! JMO

It seems the OP isn't concerned with his times as much as the cool factor. As fat as the "fine line" goes, what I think the difference is the guts the drivers have. You get the front wheels up and get scared and immediately let off it's going to come down real hard. Stay in the gas and let it drop on its own or ease out of it and it will go a lot smoother. I have never gotten tires up in the air so I don't know but it seems like the first time you get a big wheelie your going to say oh crap and drop the front end breaking a few things.
