This is not an A body question but I figure the person with the know how may be on this site. (Mods if I put this in the wrong place please correct me)

I have a new 2014 Ram 2500. I noticed that the reference lines for the high mount camera are not centered in the bed. Is this a common issue and can it be fixed without taking it to the dealer?

Sorry about the picture quality. If you count the ribs in the bed you will notice the line is off to the right of the bed.

Yeah it looks like im headed there... Just figured if it was something simple I could avoid the hassle.

Heck yeah take it back! I just picked up a 2014 Ram 3500 CTD! Its an awesome truck.

The roads were dry when I drove it home 12 miles from the dealer. I didn't drive it again until I clay bar'd and waxed it. I found a small nick on the bed that I am going to have them touch up. I took a picture of the speedo and the nick so they new I didn't drive it anymore than home. Probably over kill but dang for as much as these things cost I want it perfect!

Typically build tolerances on body parts is +/- 3.0 mm

Check to make sure it's the camera and not the bed that's off center because I've read on other forums that is sometimes an issue.

Yeah I am very impressed with this pickup. (I traded in a 98 24 valve) Of course It also the first new vehicle I have owned and the first under 130K......

Just off of the phone with the dealership. The dealer claims they have never seen this issue.......:banghead: They think radio Update (that I just did) will take care of the issue. We will see how this turns out next Saturday.

I work at a dealership in the Service dept.
First off... nope... Have not encountered that concern yet.
The good thing is that its under warranty if they figure out whats going on with it. I have moved hundreds of these trucks around the lot and never had one look like that. Hopefully your dealer is a good dealer and works it out for you. The first guess would be what they said... that the radio needs a system update (which those radios get updated constantly by the way) So who knows... if you just had one done there might be another one out!
Good luck.. hope they get ya fixed up. They really are great trucks.

Is it even close to the right spot? like just off to the right? Or is the gap supposed to be over the hitch?

Well my local dealership claims that there is no way to fix this issue:banghead::banghead::banghead:. Looks like I am going to dealership #2.

The first dealer is telling me they don't order trucks with cargo cameras, they have nothing to use as a reference. They also state that Chrysler has given them no suggestions as to what to do. I suggested they just replace the entire CHMSL/ camera combo but was told that's not an option.

Try posting the problem on RamforumZ to see how many other people have come across this.
There are some knowledgeable guys on there.

The new radios have been nothing but a headache. software updates are constantly available. Be happy if your radio station presets don't all keep going away !

I took the stop lamp out and played with the camera. The reference lines are definitley not an overlay from the radio. I looks like the pedistals that the camera rests against may not be the same height. Or the camera has a defect. Either way I am able to confirm that this is not a radio issue.

Ill try RamforumZ.

YAWN, who gives a flip. I guess if i spent big bucks on a vehicle I'd want it perfect too, the truth is, it's not gonna be. Nothing is.

I'd want it right if I paid 30K + for a truck

+ It is needed when backing under a gosseneck / 5th wheel. (hitch is waiting to be installed) With the crew cab there is no way to see into the bed without sitting in the back seat. I have no clue how the Megacab guys pull it off without a spotter.
