Hello I have some M/T aluminum 360 valve covers that I want to paint. I saw a member on here do a sweet wrinkle paint finish on theirs and was just wondering if others have any tips.

Is there a brand that works well under that heat range?

Would these steps be correct?

1) Clean
2) Sand with 100 grit
3) Clean
4) Spray with self etching primer
5) Paint with wrinkle paint

:newb:

Yes except id only use 320 instead of 100. the scratches would be too aggressive and you could possibley see them after you spray the wrinkle finish. And may take to many coats to cover them up and then it will be a mess. The wrinkle paint does better with thinner coats. When we painted my air cleaner we only used 320 for final sanding and it came out great. Also dont worry if it doesnt look wrinkled right away it takes a while for the wrinkling to appear completely

put the paint on wet and evenly then bake in the sun or oven to get even wrinkles I use vht and it works well

I use enamel paint and when about dry, spray lacquer clear on top it will give you a great finish.

Me too!

This is easy, the oven is the trick, along with the prep. I've done many and that's the answer.

Thanks guys :-D -- I love ya'll ... you're the best cheering squad!! < hugs >

Yes, but it is your attention to detail and your work ethic that makes you the best.

The cute face and nice body also help... :goodman:

When using the rattle can wrinkle paint,I have used a blow dryer or heat gun to help the wrinkling process.
