well i did it i finally did it i bought a 440 think i got a good deal basically saw an ad on craigslist bada bing bada boom and paid 800 bucks for this motor. ill probably completley dissasemble it and replace what i have to. the whole deal though is the guy i bought it from has no idea about the motor. he never had anything to do with the build up (plus hes a cheby guy) his father in law built it and recently died so he was just selling off his stuff. supposedly was gonna go in a gtx. i will tear into it more but just thought id ask if anyone thought it was a good deal. what i do know is it has an external oil cooler and the edelbrock crossram and dual holleys(dont know cfm) other than that no clue need to tear into it to find more but i just bought it tonight looking for opinions on it

If it has a edelbrock crossram on it, you got a REALLY good deal.....

allright so is it safe to assume that even if the rest of the motor is crap i should get my money back out of that crossram?

allright awesome so i have a question or two about the crossram... it looks like this 440 has stock iron heads (could check but its freezing here in iowa and i dont want to go back out there and pull valve covers), so does anyone know if these crossrams have bigger intake ports on them or stock sized ports?

Should be stock 440 wedge size. The STR is an aftermarket intake for factory heads, not like the factory Max Wedge ports. It could have been ported - take it off and look. I agree - you stole it.

allright thanks for the info

yeah the guy didnt realize what he had untill after i had responded but i have to give him credit he was a stand up guy and stuck with his price (although he told me if i didnt buy it he was going to jack the price up)

Na, you got a terrible deal, just give it to me and I'll set ya up with a nice 340 magnum.

you want your money back for the intake

I would say so, wonder what it looks like on the inside?

im guessing at least really dusty lol guy said it was sitting for a year or so carbs had the air horns on them but no mesh or anything protecting the insides of the carbs theres no distributor so that was open youll notice theres no breather cap on the valve cover and theres no exhaust so thats open too soo ill definetly at least have to dissasemble it and inspect everything but all in all i know ill still at least break even:D

no i want to build a 440 for my duster thinking about using the crossram but not sure might just try it first and if i dont like it i might sell it but like ive said everything has a price
