Greetings,

I took the Dart for a spin today to challenge the speedometer with the GPS. As I was driving down the road at 58-63mph, my engine RPM stayed in the neighborhood of 2300-2500. Is that on par with your guy's experience? I have an automatic and unknown rear gear.

..my duster has 27" tires and 3.23 gears
50 mph is about 2150 rpm
60 mph is about 2550 rpm
..3.23 is the perfect rear gear!

Wow, wonder what the hell I can expect to see with my 4:56 gears and 26 inch tires? LOL

Only had this car out for short spins in the Fall before the snow flew. I will be looking for another center section with more streetable gears for sure.

Everything depends on the effective rolling diameter/circumference of the tires. A 205/60-15 and a 2.76:1 rear end will turn ~ 2255 rpm. The same tire with a 2.93:1 will turn ~ 2400 rpm. Tire height is 24.7"

I figure @ 60 mph, about 3525 rpm.

Sounds like yall need overdrive.

3.23 gears 3 speed standard trans 14'' tires 2400 at 60.
I think they are 215 70R 14.

I hit mine on the money , Cool for sure Lkopaska  Thank you 8)

195/70 R14's behind my 904/360 drivetrain. unknown gears. was pulling 2100 on the tach today at 60.

With my 3.73 rear gear and 245/60/15 rear tires (26.6" height) my rpm is: 2,827 @60 mph :burnout:

probably...but a tall gear will not guarantee good mileage.
your max lo speed torque must be your cruise rpm.
Peak torque happens at the engine's best power output per unit of fuel consumed (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption, BSFC). I've found from long term observation that best MPG happens if cruise vehicle speed happens at an RPM *just* under peak torque. Say under by 100-200 RPM. Not really sure why.
