Im dropping off my 1966 Barracuda Nostalgia Drag Car for paint tomorrow . Im really stuck on a color. I was looking at Petty Blue or some type of blue color ? I was thinking about naming it "Mad Irishman" and painting it green ? I was looking at yellow but Im really not a yellow fan . Red is out due to cost . And I all ways look at resale color value . Not to many green fans out there .It has to be a Nostalgia Drag Racing Color.
Any Ideas will help. The picture I posted is pretty old it has different wheels steel in the back with polished slots up front .

Thanks Tommy

So the name will be Mad Irishman.Man that is a no brainer I would paint it a 60's style bright metallic green.

Yes candy green lot of flake....If not maybe the bright green on the newer Camaro's

My suggestions are:

The major refinish paint manufacturers have great selection "glamor colors" . You may want to try them for color selection.

I think PPG owns House of Color so they would have a distinct advantage in this area.

Check out as many Nostalgia Drag Racing sites as you can. There are a ton of pictures to look at.

Asking for advise on choosing a color is opening yourself up to more confusion.

Good Luck!!!

I like this color that has a hint of blue in it. You don't see many painted this color and it would stand out in a all Mopar show that has so many B5 blues, orange and green painted cars. It is 1970 B3 Ice Blue. If I ever have my Demon repainted that is the color I plan to do.

I'm a Green fan, but several of the suggested colors would look cool too. It's gonna be sweet no matter what you decide.

P.S. HBD

I'm a fan of Turbine Bronze, it's unusual but people like it, and it's a Mopar color as well as being period-correct so it will fit in with your nostalgia theme.

hotrodhoodlum: that looks like Chrysler's Sunburst Orange. They put it on everything for about a decade and a half. Paint code is PV6, DV6 or V6, depending...My '09 Wrangler X is that color - the only year they ever put it on a Wrangler.

My 65 was a copper color, factory Chryco color. Nice color, not common. I like the semigloss mettalic green, very fine flake to it, undiscernable but its not shiny, looks like its waiting on a clear coat.

So difficult to tell on a computer with these pearl/metallic paints, might be the Go Mango(tangerine) from the 2006 charger daytona, mopar paint code VE

BTW, these orange pearl/metallic colors have a color shift base that is a main ingredient, and it is very expensive.

I always liked the white/cream colored race cars that have an accent color like the Color me Gone Car

Just pick a timeless color that won't look tacky. If you are going for the vintage gasser look then pick a color that won't look gaudy. If you want to resell it I guarantee you will have a better chance of selling a blue and white two tone car versus a candy green metallic one.

I agree, heavy flake bright green.

I'll take a little Petty Blue as a accent depending on the scheme, but please don't do a overall job. I think it would cheapen a 60's hotrod. jmo.
