Where can I find the little plastic piece that goes in the steering column that returns the turn signal after completing a turn? Mine snapped so I have to return the right turn signal by hand.

Right here...

$10.50

I see them all the time on ebay, my left had took a dump about a year ago in my 66. or do like I will do when I get ready to replace it, put a add in the wanted forum and a member may fix you right up .

I've got my column in pieces at the moment because I was replacing the steering shaft and coupler. I heard they were pricey (~$30), but $10.50 + sh doesn't seem too bad.

And just for the eye candy, this was my weekend...

WOW...nice welding there...NOT! Who the h*ll did that???...and why??

By the way, I'm looking for a '67-'69 floor shift collar for my power column, if you hear of one for sale.

Thanks.

Have you tried Rock auto ?

You may have trouble finding them because motor mite stopped making the older ones a few years ago.

Thanks for the photos. I posted photos of my 65 column rebuild a few years ago. I keep telling people back in GA there are hillbillies in CA. The prior gomer owner of your car proves that with the broken coupler fix, and apologies if it was a relative.

You can get a rebuild kit for your steering coupler for $15 on ebay, though yours looks fine. $10.50 for the turn signal cam is great and about what they cost when they were in the Help bubble packs at stores. People ask >$20 for the SM9 one for early A's. I think the later one works, if you just don't use the wire.

No worries, no offense taken. I have no relation to the previous owner and his "engineering." Hillbilly isn't the word I had in mind. Those welds were so bad that some were already cracked and I could probably snap those guys off with a hammer. Imagine if they sheared while I was driving. I believe this car used to be a manual steering car (PS box uses a '75 Dart pressure hose) so in order for the previous owner to convert it to PS he found a junkyard coupler and welded scrap to it to make it all work/fit. I'm trying to fix everything he did to make the car drive safely. If you look at my link to my project you can see what he did to the firewall to put a GM brake booster on there. It made the MC leak bad and I ended up rolling and hitting a tree (at 5mph) with me in it. Luckily, the only damage was a big paint chip at the rear driver's quarter. There's also other little things here and there I need to deal with that aren't too crucial.

I'm kinda liking the idea of just going to O'Reilly to get it. It's close by, I don't have to deal/wait for shipping, nor do I have to deal with potentially shady sellers. I never used my eBay account (though I've had it for about 5 years) which will make it hard for people to deal with me.

Thanks for your advice all!

When I first started on ebay many-moons ago, I bought real cheap stuff just to get my activity number up so sellers would be comfy dealing with me. Things, like this cancel cam for $10, are perfect for that. If you get ripped off, its only $10.

Just a thought....

Can you point me to your thread on rebuild of the 65 steering column and how to replace the turn signal cam. I've got broken ears on my plastic cam but I dont' see how to remove it from the body of the signal switch without tearing things up. It has that metal collar that holds it, Is it possible pry apart and replace?
