Yes but, I believe what he is looking for is, where do you look on a 1972 slant block to find the stamped car vin number????
James, I came up with the fact it's stamped on the head surface of the block at the right front side of the block. And yes, if the block has been decked, it would most likely have machined the stamping off of it.
My 69 slant stamping is there, it's under the area where #1 spark plug location is on the block on the pass side. But my coli is mounted there and it's hard to read the whole number. See post #7 in this thread, it shows a picture. Kim:
