I've got a vibration in my car. The motor is a 360 (78 casting). Its got the B&M plate with the cutout on it and a neutral balance stall... I'm thinking either the stall is bad or I'm out of balance somewhere....Any insight? Here's the video link.

The balancer is the correct one. It was in a running car before this with no problems. The only things changed were it WAS mated to a 4 spd, now its mated to a 727.

I can't see the video on this PC.
Does it vibrate in Park and nuetral? Does it get worse as the rpms increase?

If the only thing you changed is the trans and convertor -then it's either the flexplate or convertor. Did you use all the correct and same types of bolts for the flex to crank and flex to convertor connections? Did you buy the flexplate new or used? Did you verify the number for it is correct for the external LA 360? They also have external 340, external Magnum 360, and external 440 too.

I had a hard time getting anything from the vid. but it seemed to vibrate all the time,, are you sure that the motor/trans isn,t touching the frame/body.,

Check out all the mounts, particularly trans mount,, for contact between parts,, exhaust header leaning on t/bar ?? something like that..

Yeah. All the same bolts were used. The plate I have is the 10236 B&M plate. And it was used, as was the stall.

Any weights on the converter?
You might have recieved the wrong one.

my converter on my 360 is externally balanced. i just have a standard flex plate, don't know anything about the b&m piece your talking about, but an external balance is achieved with the hb and the converter as far as i know......
higgs

Your right if you are using the correct flex plate and a neutral balanced convertor then you should be good. This is what I used in my 360 Dart with no problem.

How about the hub on the convertor you used? Is it the right size for the crank register? The early models were smaller. Just a thought. Also was the flywheel you took off of it a external balance? Or neutral? The builder of your engine if it wasn't you may have had the motor internally balanced.

can the b&m plate be installed incorrectly? I know the weights are in a specific location.

The crank is a MP high performance steel crank. Unsure of the brand of the converter unfortunately. The flywheel was a McLeod flywheel. I didn't notice any weights on that either.

I believe the manual flywheels were balanced by drilling spots on the reverse side. I'm starting to think it may be internally balanced. What type of harmonic balancer do you have on it?

If you had a McLeod fly wheel that had no external weight on it, and you then put an external balance B&M flexplate on it. Thats your problem. You now have external balance weight where none is required. You likely need a neutral balance flexplate.

Its kinda hard to tell from the pic but it does have the flats on the top and bottom of the center part.
