So I was taking off all lines that go to my 318 in preparation to take it out in favour of a 4 barrel 360, and as I was removing the vacuum line that goes from the carb to the little charcoal canister with the three nipples on the passenger side and the nipple cracked! Just age I guess, but is this system good to keep after the swap? I'm sure I can find a new canister from a junkyard or something.

And I know one line goes to the fuel tank but have no idea what the other line is for, anybody know?

This will tell ya. About half way down the article it says that one of the lines T's into the vac advance hose.

Cool, thanks, so I may as well leave it installed and hook it up with the new engine. But like I said the nipple that goes to the fuel line cracked but didn't fall off, the canister is fine though. Can I just glue it as suggested? No pieces fell off.

And I've read that it's good to use a fuel filter in the vacuum line that goes to the carb just in case it sucks some charcoal out or something.

If you drill the tip that broke off and the canister side then use a small section of metal tube inside it, it works better.
I tried super glue first and it just snapped off again when the hose went back on.
Superglue might do it if it just cracked.

You can use one of those small plastic fuel filters in the line if you want.
(Like they use on small engines and motorcycles.)
