Dana 60 ? - All the Same???

-
I have seen people use the ford units. A shame that one has a Trac lock and not a power lock but if you are going spool I guess it doesn't matter. There is a dana 66 that looks similar but not the same guts but that looks like a standard 60

hi, yes they are the same. is it one from a 1/2 ton ford ? 8 3/4 ends will fit up to tubes. we used a dana 60 from 1/2 ton ford, changed the yoke to a 1350, put 8 3/4 ends on it.

the one I did had a different pinon spline and it was a ford gear set so I had to get it for a ford truck.

I'm building one right now for my Demon. It was out of an E-250 with full floating axles. The only difference that I see is the tube diameter is 3 1/8" because the wall thickness on the axle tubes is 1/4" thick.

thanks for all the info

Am going to get it tomorrow
Did find out it has 60 cast into it
and 8 lug hubs

I prefer the thicker axle tubes
I have collapsed/bent a few 8 3/4 housings

Even the lightest pass D-60 is larger wall then the 8.75 tube. No need for the heavier tubes, but those are only in the 60-HD. The D-61 is different
