There was just a discussion on Moparts about crashboxes. They are a race trans. And they are mostly outdated for the racers who would competitively use one. So the buying audiance is much smaller. If you just found out it was a crash box, sounds like you haven't opened it up. Buyers need/want to see the details of the inside. Especially a race box and could be beaten and raced out. You just proved how important it is to open it up, you didn't know it was a crash box.

I think it's going to sell for less than a street trans.

I don't see why a similar 23 spline A-body trans' should sell for much than the B-body trans that you saw for $400.
