So I did a v8 swap a few years back and the 74 dart 318 I installed in my 69 dart had a/c so I have been running the car with the a/cc belts running thru the pump. I have issues with the belts squealing a bit at higher rpms.
I need to find out what parts I'll need to get rid of the a/c pump.

The engine is a 74 318 power steering.

Do I need a new bottom pulley?

new brackets for the alternator.

any link on where to buy everything. Thanks

You need the same brackets for the alternator, however the A/C alternators have a double pulley, and the non-A/C engines have a single pulley.

You may need to replace the lower crank pulley with a double groove instead of a triple groove pulley. I'm not sure about the water pump pulley if it is different or not.

Mancini racing sells the pulleys for the crank, and water pump new. They also have single groove alternators.

this is what you need.. is you are running power steering you may or may nor need the power steering pulley.

they pop up quite often used here in the classified section just use the measurements listed as a reference to make sure you get the right ones.. if you can't wait you can buy new from the link below..

Could you not just take the compressor off and toss it ?
Run a shorter belt on those pulleys ?

Have seen that way done. Turns into a real mess. In fact when I bought my yellow dart back the reason it was sitting was because the belt kept flying off and the kid didn't know how to fix it. Turned out he pulled the a/c off and used the same pulleys and brackets. Good for me. Bad for him. :) I had the pulleys laying around and bought a $30 alt bracket and never had a belt fly off. Better off doing it the right way.

Do you know how or why pulley alignment changes when removing the a/c ? I'm just curious.

The O.D at the bottom of the listing is the depth of the water pump pulley?

I have a three ring pulley on the crank. If I change the water pump pulley and run the power steering belt thru the outer ring then the water pump/ alt can run thru one of the inside rings on the crank. I have a double pulley on my alternator.
Thanks for the link.

Od means outside diameter. The two pulleys on the proper double pulleys are different sizes. If you just put the proper water pump pulley on it will hit the a/c crank pulley.

Don't half *** it. Just get the right pulleys and brackets and be done with it once and for all.
