Have seen that way done. Turns into a real mess. In fact when I bought my yellow dart back the reason it was sitting was because the belt kept flying off and the kid didn't know how to fix it. Turned out he pulled the a/c off and used the same pulleys and brackets. Good for me. Bad for him. :) I had the pulleys laying around and bought a $30 alt bracket and never had a belt fly off. Better off doing it the right way.
