Hi all
Just me blowing off some steam
I am restoring a 1972 Dodge Dart Demon, this is my first project in nearly 30 yrs
What my rant is
It seem every time I buy parts from ebay or swap meets the buyer claims that they will fit my car and every time the parts are Wrong
The most recent example was I bought a pair of new leaf springs at Moparfest and guess what they are 3 inches to short WTF does these venders at these swap meets have no morals or are they just out to fuk us.
Well thats my rant.
has anyone else had this happen to them
At this point I don,t feel like I can trust anyone or any US retailers
I BUY STUFF WHEN IT IS ON SALE so sometimes I do not use for 6 months or more.

Well personally I don't trust most e-bay sellers any farther than I can heave a 110 lb anvil. And these days that ain't far. Unfortunately if your not familiar with what you need to fit your car you can run into issues like this when buying at swap meets. There are a lot of good honest sellers but these days there are probably just about as many dishonest sellers that will tell you it fits just to sell it. I personally haven't had hardly any issues buying parts from professional vendors, but I know what I'm after most of the time and I learned a long time ago to check part fitment as soon as I got it even if I wasn't going to use it any time soon. That way if it doesn't fit your not having to explain to some yoyo why you waited 6 months to complain it wasn't right

That's what I do, then it goes on the shelf until ready.

It also helps to 'know' your parts and fitament/yrs/interchange...when I'm in doubt I reach out or research it to the fullest before I buy anything, you get burned you start learning real quik...knowledge is your best friend when in the market for parts/stuff

And when at swap meets, don't ask " does this fit my car?". Ask "what does this fit?". That way they can't just say yes to whatever vehicle you mentioned.

Ebay started putting that stupid "Fit's 1970 Dart" or whatever it was you searched for by all kinds of crap that doesn't even come close to being the right part.

Equally frustrating is when some one tells you they will have your part made on a certain date...that date comes and goes.....no part. Month later you say something and they cancel your order for calling them on it....attempting to make you look like a fool on this site...

I just bought a $250 7qt milidon oil pan & pickup for $75, pic looked good all 3 of them when it arrived the one side not shown had a large scrape in it .It holds oil but i threw it under the bench , I will never buy used parts off ebay again when I called him back he said it works and that all he had to promise.

I feel for you man. Im not to knowlegable and got burned a few times in trusting seller. I want to add I got so much education here on Fabo and I still to this day always try here first for parts.Im not saying here is a 100% but with my experience 99.9% satisfied. Its tough when your unsure, and a great deal isn't always as it seems, learned that unfortunately to many times

they don't call it stupid bay for nothin!!???? search parts for 72 demon, it will bring up 3,479,874 parts!LOL most also fit '79-'2017 honda civiics!
internet shopping CAN be be great or a DISASTER!!!! good luck!!

This always happen to me. I never fall for this trick.

Guys , when you enter your car year make model , add -Fits at the end and it will delete most of the garbage.

you can also type in "used" after your search preference and it will show used parts only.

Always a good idea to research the parts, or ask another Demon owner. There are a lot of unscrupulous venders out there. I've been burned a few times myself.

Did you pay via credit card? If so nearly every credit card has buyer protection and it's easy to file a claim (at least it is with my card). I have only had to use it 1 time when an unscrupulous company sold me a piece of junk oil pan. Soon as I filed the complaint they agreed to take it back. You have the choice to be a victim or be proactive in a case. I have had great luck with Summit with any return I had so it seems odd to me that they'd say something like that. Not disputing your word, just saying it seems odd. If anyone did that to me I wouldn't hesitate a minute to file a fraud claim with my credit card company

why don't you go see Nigel? You might pay a little more, but you will save alot of time. I always found him fair to deal with and for the most part I was ok with the prices.

I was there today
Rick was a blast to deal with
