Mopar missed the boat......again

10-4 ...:banghead:

Doubt i'll ever own a new truck again in my life. Just isn't worth it anymore.....Unless you need a TV, heated seats, a backup camera, etc.

What a bunch of idiots. Caint they figure out we've had ENOUGH pickup packages? Plus, this one starts out at almost 44K. Fu%%in ridiculous.

x2...guess I'm out as I could never afford that kind of money for a trk, even tho it's cool as hell, even if I had money I still wouldnt piss off 44k for it....I just dont get where people that buy this hi-dollar stuff get the means to do so,unless your a drug dealer or a politician or rocket scientist...or born into money...I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth...just a broken plastic fork stuck in my ***...from McDee's

I want a truck, not a minivan with a bed. For 44 k,there are better uses of cash spending.

Rusty, I agree, and the "mopar" your talking about here, has nothing to do with the "old" mopar that most of us are into.

I have to agree this option is beyond ridiculous for sure and don't think it will sell any more trucks but I will have to say this relates to our hobby as the new Ram 3500 Cummins is the most powerful truck out there, 850ft pounds of torque that's the king of the hill. When our cars were new guys paid more for the 340 over the slant or the 440 over the 383, if you wanted to play you had to pay. I have the 340 Cuda over the /6 for playing around and have the new Cummins over the Hemi but in this case that's what I need not what I want, its a work truck and I use it to haul the 30,000 lbs. its rated for. I'm not a drug dealer, just a guy trying to make an honest living and bought the best thing out there to get the job done and the best part is its a Mopar. Sitting down on a ventilated seat after a long day of work in the hot sun comes with a cost but to me its worth every penny on the long drive home.

over 50 g with taxes and in two years its worth 12 to 15 if you can sell it .if you lost that much money in investments you would be pissed. and besides its more car than truck my Dakota has more box space.

I could do that by ordering a base model, and taping off the chrome, scuffing and painting it black for far less than $40,000. But personally i think the all blacked out look makes it look cheap. I like a bit of chrome on a pickup.

I will keep my 94 silverado. It has served me well for 20 years and continues to be a faithful vehicle. Plus its way easier to work on than this newer stuff.

I had to stop at my local dealership and they had a 2500 sitting there with this package. I have to say it was very sharp looking in person, but not worth the money they are asking. Im so over all the hype with blacked out, blinged out & tiny ***** extremely lifted trucks. Just make a a affordable working mans truck!!!

trucks are not for the working man anymore there for business owners to write off on tax day and play with there toys

If you don't have to pay for your housing and all your food is paid for and you get a free cell phone and you get a monthly check... the means to buy some of this stuff is fairly easy to come by..

i figure the auto co have always made their big markups on loaded cars NOT the base model!!! i'm 66 and have bought 2 new trucks in my life. a 68 ford and 95 cummins dually. the 95 dually costs about 30 g back then and it wouildn't have been bought then except for who is now the X! LOl i still have the truck! i agree, its hard to imagine how people afford all the things they think the have to have in life: huge homes, new expensive vehichles, cruises, english muffins!!????
both the washer AND dryer went south the same week! the $$ i had been saving to put the 63 dart on the road went to new washer, clothes line works well instead of dryer in warm weather. the new washer , had a electronic gizmo that locks the lid before it will start to let in water! ( i guess this is some type of safety thing) OR maybe an excuse for it too cost a little more and have an expensive part to go BAD!?? LOL and this is the CHEAPEST washer they make!!! ( she's lucky they don't sell the hand wringer type anymore!!?????) LOL
i have to wonder if people in the average European country have our problems ( living standards) and are becoming senical like us U S citizens !@?????????????????

Not just Ram is doing it , have you checked out the Ford.

The 2014 F150 comes with a new F150 Tremor package, which will be a sporty, performance truck with the twin turbo EcoBoost engine and 4.10 gears. $49,000 + tax, and it comes standard with worse gas mileage that the 5.3 Chevy and Ram 5.7 Hemi.

I was pricing a 5500 Ram to tow a 5th wheel trailer to see if it would be an option for retirement...The truck was in the 70K range and the 5th wheel was close to 60K..You can buy a modest house for that in FL. So that plan went south quick... 44K for a truck is not bad for this Day and Age but is what I paid for my first house and it was a 4Br 2&1/2 bath home on 2 acres brand new...My 2003 Ram 2500HD quad cab was 40K and it will more then likely be the last new truck I can afford...Luckily it only has 40K on it so it should last for a while...Bill

Guys, I work at a dealership now that I retired from the Post Office. People just come in and buy stuff. They don't seem to care what it costs, just what the monthly payment is. We got people financing for 80 months now. The only people who seem to care what a truck can do are the farmers, and they all seem to want the same thing, diesel 4x4 dually trucks.

Trucks sell and are large profit item for auto makers. It is hard to believe that with the price of fuel. Flip through diesel mag at the store and there is a lot of people pour a lot of money modifying new trucks. We like muscle cars and spend money on our hobby. Truck guys spend money on diesel trucks and modifying them. :burnout:

still driving my 97 F150 that I paid 8K for used 10 years ago...probably drive it another 10 years. I bought my wife a 50K Lincoln MKS..course it was a 2010 model and I got it for less than half of that. And I still didn't like paying that much for a car. But it does have all the butt ticklers and only had 23K miles. Can't imagine paying that much for a new vehicle and 2 years later it's worth half the price you paid for it.

I bought my whirlpool washer n dryer at an estate sale $200 ,for the pair. Had em 7 years now. Most people these days are mortgaged out the A$$, have 6 or 7 year loans on expensive new cars, etc

Me , all my vehicles i own outright except for the low mileage 2 year old dodge caravan i just bought for my wife. $15,000 ,for a 2 year old loaded clean vehicle like that isnt bad at all, house is payed for etc. we dont live extravagant, and live within our means, and btw, i love thomases english muffins with scrambled eggs and cheese .

I think some people arent happy with their lives unless it has to do with buying things. Good friends and family are more important than material things, but if dodge can get $45k for these then more power to em. I know i wont buy one for that kind of money.

I agree i payed $87k for my home here in Texas, i am not gonna pay a half a mortgage payment a month on a vehicle. I will keep my old ones.

The lawyers and CEO of the companies are making out like a bandit on these overpriced cars.

Yeah everyone likes the black out look, not me, put some chrome on it.

They are probably making 12-14 thousand dollars for each truck sold, plus the dealer is making money and the. The finance company. So cost is probably 1/2 of what someone pays for it.

I would not pay that for that truck.

Have thought about selling my 1995 dodge 2500 extended cab 4x4 with cummins diesel. Hoping if I do get another truck it will be my last. But have a hard time when I look at the new vehicles and the cost is more than my 1st house.

My uncle has talked about getting a new truck and selling his GMC would hate to drive a GMC to work at ford, but if is available for the right price might have to it is 3 years old and less than 40,000 miles and looks like new.

The worst part of all new cars is they are going to be disposable cars. With all the electrical devices at some point you will not be able to get them fixed, no matter how nice they look, drive or run, they just will not be dependable and finding someone to fix it will cost more than it is worth.

Guy at work has a car the tail lights stay on whenever the car is running. They wanted $900 for a new computer module to repair it. So they are like daylight running lights, always on.

Yes I work for ford building the new escape and think they are over priced. We have not had a raise in the past 11 years but the cost of the vehicles have went up 20-25% since my last raise.

hey i love those english muffins too!! LOL bad part is i remem ber just a couple years ago,,,, the price was little over half what we pay for them now!!!
around here there are lots of farm and estate sales, but problem is time i travel to enough sales to find washer dryer thats not 6-10 yrs old,( unless i get lucky!), price of diesel, i just bought a new one and put up clothes line!!!!! LOL
i actually thought when we had the housing/mortage/ economy recession (depression), scare couple years ago, people would ACTUALLY get their heads screwed on straight, and start to live within their means, forget about having a new rediculous priced vehicle, home that is obviosly toooo big and mortage toooo high!????? but no, now the t v ads for mortages that are 150% of the real eatates value!!!! people right back buying all this overpriced crap!!
my home is built out of a bar, the truck is 19 yrs old, but everything is paid for. i thank the good Lord for what i have, everyone's health (the voices in my head have quieted down), hens are laying, the calf is getting bigger, and soon to plant the garden! life is good and i don't even want a new truck!!
