I have a friend who has a 70 duster and its a 318 car, but he wants to install a stock 74 360. What will we have to do to make the 360 work with the 904? If IIRC the 360 is external balance and the 318 is internal balance so the 360 wont work with the 904 that is made for the 318, or will it work?

Simple. Either get a torque converter weighted for the 360, and make sure you have the proper balancer for the 360

or else buy a B&M weighted flex plate for the 360. (These are made for this purpose)

And by the way, Magnum and LA 360s are weighted differently from each other, so make certain you get the correct one, there.

I agree,He stated 74 360 so is an LA engine...will need the drivers side motor mount also hopefully it came with it from a car,so would probably be the spool type mount,if going into a pre 73 car then motormount would be different bracket and biscut style

You're going to need motor mount adapters. Or you can craft your own.

Good place to start :)

Is he replacing the trans as well? Not sure if you would get into drive shaft length changes then too. Maybe one of the pros can jump on and tell you.

Get a balanced flexplate from B&M, or take the 318 flexplate to a good machine shop and have them balance it. I've had this done twice and they charged me approx. 50 bucks to balance it. Worked great both times. Also, I've used the 318 mounts before on a 360, they are easily work-able.
