Really didn't know where to post this, but to me this is not trivial, have you noticed this in your area?

I have gotten more and more pissed off at the local Safeway and Albertsons grocery and now it turns out ...........they are merging. The straw broke the other night with a confrontation with a less than helpful checkout who thought it might be more important to plan her next pawty with her buddy in the next lane than help me, but I digress........

I always used to buy TWO KINDS OF paper towels, and they always met the following criteria:

1........Either "Brawny" or "Bounty" brand

2........Always "full size" IE not the stupid "select a size"

3........"oversize" rolls

4........Nice big packages of several rolls of "as many as I can get" Sometimes 6, 8, whatever

So in the last year, this is not to be.............

And when I looked around for "other" places to shop, I found that "Super One"

ALSO DID NOT HAVE towels which meet the above!!!!!!

The only thing they had were little bitty rolls, or if they had nice big fat rolls, they'd be packages of maybe TWO rolls!!!!

WHAT IS WITH THIS COUNTRY!!!!

I can NOT find any effin' paper towels that a man can use that work!!!!

Send me your address ill send you all the partial rolls you want. I work as a custodian at a school and we always take them out at about half roll. I got more then i can use at home. Good thick heavy ones

Captain, we've spotted Klingons near Uranus....

yikes. maybe buy online or change stores.

we quit using paper towels years ago, bought cloth napkins and use them for everything, just keep washing them and thy are good to go.

Believe it or not I only use those blue shop towels sold at auto parts stores in my home and even at the table, in my shop and in my vehicles. They are stronger than any paper towel, hold more crap and reusable if that's your forte'

Oh, NO I believe we've got boolions and boolions of Carl Sagons. Thanks for the offer on the partial rolls but I don't think we should need to resort to that.

This reminds me of YEARS ago a guy I knew surveyed for the USFS. He went into Whites Boots and was complaining he wasn't getting the life out of 'em he once did, and they said "they couldn't get the leather" they used to.

He asked 'em "what's the matter, don't they grow COWS they way they used to?"

I've got some of the blue ones and use them occasionally. Here's the thing. The Brawny ones worked fine for "the way I work." I don't want to get into trying to wash crap and screw up my washing machine as well as screw up clothing because I "greased up" my machine 'er somethin, I just don't need that

"What wuz" worked just fine." If I HAVE ta, if I jus HAVE ta, I buy one God DAM roll at a time, but I'll tell ya it IS gonna be a PITA. My neighbor tells me I should go to Costco. Somehow, having to PAY a membership fee to a store to shop there rubs me the wrong way. Plus I don't buy all that much in "big box" stores, anyhow.

What? You mean it's not Bush's fault?

I've always used the blue shop towels man. They're pretty strong, and what I mean by that is they do not typically leave little evil balls of mutilated paper towel everywhere. They can be a bit pricey though for as much as I use them

trust me the large packages of bounty 6,8,12,rolls etc are still available,,,,ask me how i know????? i work for the printing company that prints ALL the bounty sold in north america,,,,keep buying,, it keeps me working, please,,,

Sooo, free towels for everybody??? Whoo Hoo!!!

I can empathize...I just go with the flow of what's on the shelf, sure I wish they would stop changing the packaging but they won't so why get angry....I always buy the select-a-size so I guess I'm somewhat to blame haha...

Well you need to talk to the fecking grocery stores in Coeur d Alene BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ON THE SHELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use cloth towels from costco that are designed as bartop rags. They are fluffy, durable and can be washed and reused about 20 times easily. Less than a buck each. Or get HD ones from amazon prime:

Paper just doesn't absorb like a fluffy cotton towel. Ive switched over from paper towels about 5 years ago and am very happy with proper absorption and cleaning that cloth provides.

A rant about paper towels...really dude. I'm a service tech at an apartment complex so I use ALOT of paper towels. I don't care how big or what brand, just something to get the crap off my hands.

Got a rag account with Cintas Co. He delivers new shop rags every week and picks up the dirtys. Even gives me fender covers once in a while. I pay around $100 month for the service, but its worth it when you need clean rags and dont want to wash old dirty ones. I do also use the Scotts Blue paper towels for lighter duty work around the shop. I buy them from my chemical/oil warehouse.

Albertson's has just been bought out by Vons. More changes ahead..................

I'm with ya Del, I can't stand those select a size, I have to look very carefully at the packages to be sure I'm getting the full size ones. And that is getting more difficult as time passes.

I won't be "goin into" either Safeway or Albertsons so that part of the problem has be eliminated, if not solved

I buy the six pack of the blue towels at Home Depot. To expensive at the auto parts store They work great in the garage.

Seriously? If you can't offer any SERIOUS help keep the feck out of my thread. As a "service tech" AKA Fackin' Janitor, you of all people should be able to appreciate the need for QUALITY paper absorbent products, or maybe you are so deep in bullshit that you can't see the problem

My wife picks up bulk packaging name brand paper towels at Walgreens when they have them on sale.

Myself I use old cotton t-shirts and clothes for rags. I haven't had to buy any for quite a while but in the past I have gotten them from the reject clothes that Salvation Army has. Our population is about 46K so our Salvation Army isn't so large that they won't sell rags in smaller batches instead of the 1100 to 1200 pound bales that they have in OKC.
