Baring any rust issues I'm more leaning towards the '72. The '70 is a really nice body style but the last picture appears to be a rust bubble and that nasty dent have me worried. Rust is a major disqualifier in getting a car inspected here in BC.

I would take the 72 hands down...It is a cleaner car and it is a real muscle car not a clone. The only thing I do not like on the 72 is the vinyl top.Full vinyl tops just do not look right on 71-72 RR's.

normally i would go with the 70. . BUT in this case it would be the blue car.

1) its a real road runner numbers matching and all
2) very nice color combo
3) just from the pictures it looks to be a lot nicer car
4) theres a number of things easily seen in the pictures of the 70 that would make me worry. the dent, rust on drivers side, look at the half assed exhaust (what else is half assed?) the undercoat. what's that hiding? green int. plus it looks like a real cheapy paint job
5) the satellite is just that. a satellite.

The Satellite just because of personal body style preference.
That's a lot of money for either one though.

At first I was going to say 70 Sattelite, but it looks as tho it was recently painted, probably a quick, cheap paint job with possibly underlying issues. I will NEVER buy a car with new paint unless it comes with tons of pictures and documentation on the bodywork from a reputable shop. As stated, the 72 looks to be the best car, a survivor to boot! Much more desirable in my opinion.

Neither...the blue car, in my opinion, looks like a whale....the second one....the dent....and what appears to be a bubble....I am one of those folks that, thanks to 27 years in NJ, sees that bubble and thinks beyond that bubble...

You're better off with the blue one, as pointed out the 70 has body work issues. In my opinion that bubble will turn into a huge problem quickly if the car isn't stored in a dry garage every night. Do you really want to pay that kind of money for a car that needs a cosmetic restoration. Buy the blue one and put new carpet and floor mats in it.

That is what I was sort of worried about, that bubble. Can mean some nasty problems brewing.

Both are overpriced...the 72 would be a decent car being it is what it is portrayed as factory and a better investment but prob alittle too much in price and if you like those bodystyles then get it over the 70[which that bodystyle is my preference of the 2]..the 70 looks good but isnt a factory bblk and with the dent/possible rust issue it also has the little rearend among other things that doesnt warrant it being worth no where near that kind of money..divide the asking price by 2 and thats what they are closer to being worth and less for the 70,I would keep looking around dont get in a hurry and jump the gun....

I think you might want to recheck Canadian prices on Mopars. The Roadrunner if it's in as good as shape as he says, is worth about 12-13 and that is what I'd offer. The Satellite is probably about 8 or 9.

Rusted out project cars are going for $3-4 in these parts. :protest:

There was a running '71 Charger, 340, body rusted everywhere (including hood) here in town and that went for $6000....

72 for me! It's rarer as 72 was a strike shortened production year, and it appears to be original! Don't like the 72 taillights, but that's just me!!

As for the 70?? He never said it was an original big block car, and I'm doubting that it is! Also, the paint job is probably as said above, a quicky and I highly doubt that the hood stripe treatment is original on a 70 Satellite! Not to mention that lime green is my least favorite color! Geof

70 is a pig with lipstick, 72 is the real McCoy, nuff said........I was interested as well in the 72.

I would be really nice to my wife , take her out to dinner, and then shopping . Then make a real convincing case that i should get both lol

72, better shape, original, real road runner. The 1972 body style was about the pinnacle of b body style. I actually prefer the 71 taillights but the designer actually specifically went back and changed them to the 72 version to better fit the design. The 72 grill is cooler then the 71 also. The 72 side lights are a step down but that was an across the line thing, sort of like the 68-69 cheapening. I think the 1970 was cool also but would rather have a 68 in that gen.

Nope, I understand the canadian diff but still stand by what I thought,no way either is worth that to me or anyone I know,as stated the 72 is no doubt the better car but not worth the asking price in my opinion[which is what was asked for] and the 70 which is one of my favorite bodystyles is really a pig with lipstick and a wig...just seen a 70challenger fact 383 car bought around here for 2k running and driving[yes 2 grand this is not a mistake],and a 68 Super B 383 4spd car for 4500..68 RR 383 4spd running driving car for 7500 so they are out there....just because you dont see them on the net or even hear about some of them doesnt mean they arent there and that there are still deals on them just never know when or where they may pop up...got my eye on a couple right now within 75 miles of me...

I would say the '72.
The '70 has been fooled around with a lot and has a lot of visible issues, not to mention what it would be like in real life when you looked at the car in person.
The '72 car is a better car condition wise, but the interior is pretty shabby for being supposedly redone not that long ago.
To tell you the truth, i wouldn't buy either of them.
I would wait for a better car to come along, it's a buyer's market......

The '72 RR for sure. Hands down, no questions the better, cleaner car.

It's overpriced, but they both are. The '70 isn't worth $12.5 either with the issues it has, and from what I see it's going to look worse in the near future. It's hiding some things that are going to be expensive later.

The '72 is still a '72 and not the most desirable bodystyle, but it's going to be a lot less work down the road. And even though the '71/72 B's are big cars, they drive a lot "smaller" than they look. I'll fess up, I have a '71 Satellite Sebring Plus I picked up about a year ago. Even with its tired 383, 2bbl, and single exhaust its a lot faster than I thought it would be. She gets moving for a big girl.

I think $12-$13k is in the ballpark for the '72. I'd probably start at $12k and hope to land around $14k. Probably a little high, but if you like the bodystyle its a good example to work with.
