I'm building a fan shroud for my 18 1/2 mechanical clutch fan. How large of hole would you think I should make for safe clearance and good air pull ? Need this info ASAP thanks guys

Rubber, I may install a torque strap. Its not driven hard little 273 auto.

I would go 3/4 to 1" all around clearance. And half of the fan blade in the shroud.
That strap is a real good idea with the rubber mounts.
