Have been thinking about doing a mini tub on my 74 scamp but am looking for some tips/ tricks from some of you guys out there who have done one. I've done alot of reading on here in some other threads and have learned alot, i've read a few places there is a how to power point floating around and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share? Anyways just looking for some further tips and tricks, i did a small amount of mig welding in high school but unfortunately the instruction was poor and the welders were even worse so needless to say its a little intimidating to go at my car guns blazing with such little experience. Any suggestions/ tips are greatly appreciated! thanks in advance

Check with Crackedback he does have a power point IIRC. Really welding the tubs and such is the easy part IMO i used self tapping screws to get it all back in place then welded. Now the spring relocation will require a skilled welder.

alright, i'll see if he chimes in at some point or send him a pm, thanks for the tip, yeah i figured the spring relocation would be the tricky part, which obviously mini tubbing is a waste of time without the springs relocated

Check out the Big Block Dart website they have some good info one moving the wheel house and relocating the springs. Good Luck

This is what I did. It can be pain but take your time with it and make sure everything is in place where it needs to be before welding into place. I think I got my tubs just a little too far forward and I ended up having to modify the frame on the rear seat to make it work.

I have the power point on my computer. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

I've checked out the write up on big block dart, some good info there for sure, BrianT thanks for the reply i've given another guy my email adress to have the powerpoint sent to, if theres any trouble with that i'll let you know, thanks for the help

thanks crackedback, i will be looking through all these ideas and taking what i can from everything, thanks for the help guys! any more info is greatly appretiated

Another old post,, We appreciate you're searching,,

I doubt you need a kit,, most just buy $5 wortha sheet metal, or cut a 3"ish strip out of an old hood,, jmo

Also,, by the time you finish welding in those tubs,, you should be getting to be a pretty good welder, and may feel confident enuff to do the relocation,, with a little practice on heavier metal.... Mig's are prety sweet with/without gas..

hope it helps

Did this on my 68 dart hardest part was getting started. Not hard to do. I have 325 mts under it now. It is a bit of work but I couldn't be happier with it when I was done.

What's the best way to cut the wheel wells out? Sawzall? plasma cutter?

I liked the 4 1/2 cut off wheel,, helped to track straight,, plasma not so much..

choose one of the inner "radial impressions" as a guide,, eyeball it good, inside and out, making sure your not cutting too far out ..figure where you're going,, and go..
