Any interest in Skip White HEI walk through?

-
I think its a holden dizzy just made to fit a mopar. Not the same module as gm HEI but does the same stuff. The curve probably sucks in stock form I would play with lighter springs assuming they are accessable. The only bad thing is you might not be able to get the cap/rotor and module at your local parts store. Other than that re curve it and it should work pretty good.

I got a big hei skip white ditributor for my ford engine. Works pretty good, springs seem way too stiff though. But it the Chinese parts look decent enough for daily driver duty.

I have one still in the box, am going with the MSD blaster 2 coil, also very interested in what the curve is gonna look like out of the box.

You can get the cap and rotor through Skip White, but you have to call them. Same goes for springs. I actually should call them tomorrow and ask about the springs and all that. Supposedly, it gets real close to 35* total without vacuum advance from what I found on other people's experiences. But who knows! Those posts are all from 3+ years ago. Hopefully, I can answer all the questions we all are wondering.

and you are actually right on the Holden module! Now, I will have to hunt down one lol. Any Auzzies wanna lend a mate a hand? lol. I actually found a few on Australian ebay, but I may just do do it and buy one. The Bosch units seem to be pretty commonly used by the Valiant guys down under, specifically Bosch part # BIM 024

I'll be dammed!!! So the "fog" LOL starts to clear!!

Well, here's the power stud I ordered.

$11 shipped to my door and take a lil longer sounded better than forking out more than double for this one just so it could get here faster.

I also felt a 3/8" stud was overkill and that I would be paying just to use a Ron Francis named part on my stuff. But if that's what grabs your goat, don't let me rain on your parade.

Sorry guys, but it'll probably be next week before I am really hooking it all up. I apologize for the delay. I just have a budget to stick to and buying something just to rush is not happening. BUT! I will go over how to install the coil on your firewall or fender and how to properly crimp and make your own plug wires!

don`t forget, skip whites stuff is gauranteed for life!!!

Well, as promised, I made a step-by-step on how to make plug wires located here

Here's the end result, minus coil wire

Thanks for the pics! I've been wondering about this unit for a while. Due to the price, I've been ASSuming "Made in China" - but hell why try to fight it? An identical unit, made in this hemisphere would cost $300.00 or more! I don't see any signs of American manufacturing jobs coming along.

No slam on union rank & file, but ain't it great that the union management is doing so well? They probably have overseas investments, too!

Please excuse the O.T.....

A lil more done today. Power post installed and ready for the ballast bypass.

I plan on cracking open all the dried electrical tape and completely removing the ignition box from the engine bay and nicely wrapping everything back up after the swap is over to make it all look nice and neat again. I also need to trace a few wires here and there for the swap. I will do a walk through about how I did it exactly. Probably will be fairly accurate for any vehicle with the 4 post ballast. If their is any variations in the wiring, I expect you guys to chime in so others can know what they are to expect.

Anyways, picture of the power post installed. I decided to cover the hole where the ballast was attached. Covers an ugly hole and makes it so I don't have to add any more wire and can use what is already there.

Any updates on this??? I was just wondering about this and how the timing curve measured up out of the box.
:happy1:
Old thread but not a lot of info on these.

Out of the box mine has 18' mechanical that comes all in by 1800rpm.

I am going to tear it apart and see if I can adjust it.

Please let us (well, maybe just me) know what you find. I'm planning on ignition upgrades for the 64ragtop as I get back into it. Got sidetracked for a few years, but coming back around...
