I just ordered fuel cell from summit.it has -8 size how to adapt to my current 5/16 line.I cant find any on ebay or at local auto part stores.

Well the easiest thing would be a -8 Female to 5/16 barb or run -8 from the cell to a filter, then NPT to 5/16 barb

Usually one size step is all that you get in an AN adapter. -5AN (5/16") is virtually non-existent, so finding an adapter to it will be difficult. The shortest route that I can see to 5/16" hose from a -8 fitting is two adapters, one -8 x NPT, and one NPT x 5/16"

Don't know what the power from the engine will require, but stepping up to a -6 (3/8") fuel supply isn't a bad idea. Depending on what you're doing you may be able to use the existing 5/16 supply line for a return.

5/16 is pretty small. I am guessing it is not a stock engine since you are putting a cell in it.

All I can say is I hate an fittings!my tank was rotted.just because I put a cell in it doesnt matter if its stock or not.5/16 is stock fuel line size

Ya know I deleted "my other answer."

Don't any of you guys actually use tools anymore? Buy an AN / JIC adapter that fits the cell, cut it off and tap it for 1/4" pipe and screw in a hose barb. easy

In the meantime instead of bitchin' about it, how about a photo of what the cell has for fittings, and what you have for hose and fittings, maybe we can give you some advice

I can flat guarantee you, that even with my many years experience, there are specialty fittings made by some little "hot rod" outfit that I've never heard of. This new fangled internet thing makes things a LOT easier.

Let's assume the cell is no 8 male AN on the cell and that this is not removable

So it looks like the left side of this adapter? So you need a no8 female flare to fit that?

Less than 1 minute on Al Gore's www came up with this page

http://www.russellperformance.com/mc/adapt_fit/an.shtml

Look down the page at no 614208. This is no8 AN female flare on one end and 1/4 male pipe on the other. It would have been better to have female pipe, and someone might make one, but I'm just trying to show you that even a senile old guy can find this ****

So now you either need a hose barb with 1/4 female pipe, or a hose barb with 1/4 male pipe and a pipe COUPLING

Go down the page some more and find no 697020. This is 1/4" male NPT X 5/16 hose barb

So since I found these two, all we need is a 1/4" pipe coupling to screw the two of them together. You can buy this at ANY auto parts or hardware store

Why do you hate them? They're extra work and expense, but they are a better system than hose clamps. You don't have to run the spendy stainless over-braided hose with them. Look up "Push-Lok" or "Barb-tite" hose and hose ends. The hose is spendy, but even with this carp they call 'fuel' these days it'll very likely be the last hose that you ever have to put on the car. Unless you insist on putting hose clamps on them, then you've skrewed the pooch and will be replacing the hose. W/o clamps that system is good to over 200 psi!

If you don't want to re-do the lines, go from the -8 to a small segment of line with -6 fittings. There are adapters to go from -8 to -6 and then -6 to 5/16.

The RobbMc pickup in my tank has a -8 outlet but I step down to a -6 fitting and run 3/8 lines. Works fine. Can't vouch for the double step down though, I wouldn't do that myself.

AN fittings rule though dude. Every single hose barb/worm clamp jive line on my car leaked. EVERY one. Replaced with lightweight push lok hose with AN style fittings - no leaks. Looks cool too.

That being said, if you're gonna spend a bunch of coin on lines and fittings that you hate, just pop for a new tank and be done with it. You can probably get a used one for cheap. New ones can usually be had for under two bills if you don't care where they are made...

I found the ones I need.I was mad because I ordered a fitting it wasnt rite.I already got the cell why would u buy a tank?I dont have alote of money and im disabled.arent these sites fir help not put downs?
